Custom Dr. Doom

I was thinking about making a Mego Dr. Doom like this:



I can see some parts that I can get but I am wondering if anyone has made one of him

OH yeah. He's been done by lots of people looking to complete a fantastic four set. Every one I've seen is a little different. Some use Tin man and/or Knights armor from CTVT figures, and lot's of people use the cape and tunic from the Famous Covers version. IMO the famous covers outfit is way to big for mego scale, but to each his own.

I made one. I combined a Famous Covers (parts) Dr. Doom with some sculpting ideas. I originally made one out of Knight parts I got from Dr. Mego sites but just kept adding to him until I eventually just sculpted his entire body.

I have since fixed the cape and adjusted his boot feet better but these pix give you an idea what I did.

use Mego Knight repro parts from CTVT and go the route Mego probably would have went. I did mine using aluminum from beer cans for the arm and leg armor, this is more based on his first FF appearance.

You can take the head right off a Famous covers Doom and convert it into a Mego very easily and it looks great.

Mixing Tin Man & Knight parts will give you a pricey but killer Dr. Doom. .

IMO, You can't beat the FC head with added molded cowl--but I'm biased

I still got that rubbery armor suit that came with my 9" Famous Covers Doctor Doom. I don't think anything can be done with it. Thought about trying to make a custom Steel figure out of it but probably just be a waste of time.
