While I'm not married to them, I like boxes for 2 reasons:

      1. If I ever sell it, the figure goes in the box and the buyer gets a "complete" figure/box combo.

      2. I like seeing the original artwork that I used displayed next to the figure. Most of the time I have my box-maker use artwork for the box that I studied over while making the figure.

I like the boxes, esp. when i have the art made just for the characters i want rather than the usual mego characters on the side. but i rarely get around to buying boxes as my money goes to m,aking the next figure! they also do take up more shelf room , but look soooo cool.

I like to look at boxes, but then I'm not really a collector so I never purchase. Besides, I have to make my figures accessible for when the photo mood strikes me.

All of my customs are boxed. I luv 'em. I even box the Mattel retro Superhero figures.
If a Mego figure of God did not exist, it would be necessary for EMCE to invent him.

I'm not a big fan of boxes even though I think they are very cool. If I had all of them in boxes my wife would kill me. I have the Indiana Jones in the box and a Punisher in the box and thats it really, the rest have their place in drawers or on a shelf.

Speaking for myself, half the fun of the creative process of making a custom MEGO action figure is creating the MEGO-styled box.

I love the process of finding some appropriate artwork, locating the character's name logo, and putting it all together in Photoshop to create a nice box design.

For my custom MEGO Batman characters, I designed MEGO-styled boxes for a group of Heroes, Villains, and Secrect Identities. In virtually every case, the main character images were extensively Photoshop re-worked. I borrowed from various image sources and made full-body image composites that accurately reflected the details of the custom Figures I created:

                    WORLD'S GREATEST SECRET IDENTITIES

                    WORLD'S GREATEST SUPER-HEROES

                    WORLD'S NASTIEST SUPER-VILLAINS

Also, I'm not really much for loose display of my collectibles. I cannot stand the idea of an action figure that I worked hard to create collecting dust or getting damaged by sunlight exposure on a shelf.

So I really like having a box. They add sparkle, color, and excitement to the custom figure's overall presentation, AND they are an awesome way to store the figure and protect it from damage.

                    My worthless two cents.

Depends on the figure....sometimes I go with a box, others a card...all depends on the complete look I'm going for...
