I just had someone sculpt a Burt Ward/Robin head for a 12" 1966 Robin figure for me and she used sculpey modeling clay that you bake in the oven to harden. The problem is that the skin tone didn't turn out right,it looks too yellow. My question is,can the skin tone be painted over after it's been already baked in the oven?If so,what type of paint can be used for it to work?If anybody worked with this type of material and knows what's the best way to do it let me know. Thanks to everyone and I hope to get some good answers.

Yeah that's not a problem. Your best paint bet is a water based acrylic - most miniature hobby brands will work (citadel, etc) but I find a micro scale ground paint is world's above these. There's a brand called Polyscale that I love. If the paint is higher quality you'll probably just need two thin coats, and not worry about primer. -
Just an idea of mine. Buy this stuff called Modge Podge. It is like a glue substance that hardens. Glaze a thin layer on and repaint it with a thin coat of paint. Make sure that when the Modge Podge dries everything is hard and nothing is wet.More custom Mego madness on Facebook right here...

Yes, you can paint cured sculpy. I suggest you paint and seal your peice, then take a mold and cast it. You dont want to use the orignal sculpy part on your figure as it could break later. A resin part is much stonger.LOOK

But why paint and seal it before molding and casting it? It's better to cast off the initial sculpt, and paint that.... did I miss something?Comment
