    Clay or Sculpey?

I have been working in sculpey trying to learn how to sculpt heads and I have to say I am getting a little frustrated using it. I loved it at first for it's easy clean up but I keep wondering if maybe it's better to switch back to messy ole`clay until I learn how to get heads sculpted right. Do any of you sculptors out there find one medium is really better than the other?

Honestly I find that wax is best for me. But that presumes you're remolding. I've never had a chance to pick up and use casteline before the US import laws changed (and the recipe went to hell) So I don't know if that was better or not.

Sculpey is great, but it's best to mix your own blend. A 1lb Super Sculpey (salmon) box to 2 Sculpey III white packs and 1 Sculpey III black pack is the most common mix, and better than off the shelf for a variety of reasons. They gray color makes surface detail more obvious so you don't miss things before finish baking, and the texture change helps the sculpey keep it's shape while yielding better small detail.

            Monster Makers MONSTER clay.
It doesnt smell, it's meltable, can be frozen or warmed to change hardness.

            Thsi is if youre casting.
Other wise Super Sculpy ( the pink syuff no the white) is the best thing for you.
Is soft , cooks in the oven and when youre done any last details can be drilled or sanded!

            But it is $$$$$ !
            Good luck !!!!!! :-)

It's still good if you do any large objects, you can use it as a cheap base or core to build up off of.

Where does one find Magic Sculpt? I find that most of the Hobby Stores here (Hobby Lobby, Michael's) don't seem ot carry much other than the sculpy type.
