Lil Miss Dollikin are my favorite non-Mego heads that are in scale. I've seen some really nice customs that used them. Just don't go buying them all, cuz I need them!

    Here's a closeup of one I rerooted

There's also a doll called Leggy, that would work for a more stylized or anime character. They have rather small bodies and comically long legs. Their eyes are weird, but maybe you could repaint them to suit. I have a bunch of them, but haven't really used them for anything yet. Some of their clothes fit Megos, but some are impossibly tiny. There are a few different ones, but the one in this picture seems to be the most common. I think her name is Leggy Jill. I'm including a picture of her head on a Mego body, next to a nude Supergirl for comparison.

Here's a comparison of the bodies, in case you're curious.

        Chris,

There is a guy that sells heads that are re-rooted but the heads are the same generic ones like Supergirl.
I've got a few I bought from him and they work great but not sure what exactly you are seeking.
The FC SpiderGirl is great for different style. Just a pain to remove the separated molded hair but once removed it looks great! I plan re-rooting that one.

I'm always checking doll heads to see if they're Mego-compatible. The rerooted heads ealdrett mentioned are well-done, but I personally get tired of customs done with the same old heads.
I have some of the Knickerbocker Annie dolls, and I know the bodies are a tad small, but the heads might work. I always thought the Daddy Warbucks would make a good Professor X or even Lex Luthor. When I get home I'll check the Miss Hannigan for scale.

CTVT carries a few rooted hair heads - white/blond in either long and pig tails and a 2 red heads ( 1 an alien ). They were from their Brady Bunch, Married With Childern & Space 1999 lines of figures.

The only problem with those heads is, they are too large for the body. I bought a Maya doll from them, and the head keeps coming off of the neck post.

And the others have the same kind of neck posts as the males, even the rooted hair ones.

I've gotten 2 blond heads and have the Space 1999 set and haven't had any trouble with any heads falling off.

The Miss Hannigan body is almost the same size as Wondergirl's, but not as poseable. However, the head is pretty much in scale with 8" Megos, but with a smaller neckhole. I didn't want to damage mine, so I didn't force it on for the pictures, but you can get a pretty good idea for comparison. You might be able to put the Hannigan head on a Mego neck plug if you heat it, but you might have to enlarge the hole by cutting it.

Edited to add: I didn't try the Annie doll, but I think it's close to the same size. I know they made another orphan character, but I don't remember any other female characters. There was a woman named Grace, but I don't recall a doll being made.

So Del are these available on store shelves or are you getting them off ebay?

Anyway. I have used the head from 4" Brats figures. Micheals craft supply carries 2 tyes of female doll heads. one in doll suplies and the other is in the cake decoration section. the micheals heads are cheap 4 or so for arround 5 bucks. Very generic features.

I forgot about the heads from Michaels. Very generic, but would work really well for characters with masks, cowls, etc. Leggy and Dollikins are older dolls, so I get them on eBay and sometimes at the flea market.
