Superglue is good for wounds, it was originally invented for medical use by the army in vietnam

Thanks for all the advice on it...I am a little worried about it to be honest...I had the wife clean it out and re bandage it yesterday..When she redoes it today .,.if It looks like its not healing right I am going to go get it fixed right. The money for the doc is the main reason for not going. Really didn't want to cost the family money for my mistake. I am supposed to get insurance in the summer from what my boss tells me...I will be so happy to be able to go to the doctor again and not worry about the cost. Thanks guys for the concern. Please be careful when using some of the tools we all use to customize.

    Yeah, hands are tricky.

superglue does work well for sealing skin, as does the clear med tape you can pick up at you local pharmacy. I agree that hands and eyes are a visual artists most important tools. I knocked the fleshy end/side of my left index finger off in a hammer/dolly accident while working a dent out of a car. Fortunately, I did not hit the bone. Just sort of glanced off of it. But there was a curved hole on the side of that finger and I had to figure out how to play guitar with three fingers for about a year and then relearn how to use four.

Of course, I also understand that the good Docs are expensive. I didn't have insurance at the time of my finger accident, and I did the tape down procedure as well. If you have insurance, I side with having a visit to your general prac. At the very least, he can give you a scrip for something to keep the throbbing from driving you crazy. I recall not sleeping with my hand on a pillow for about a week after I smashed my finger.

Had a Letaher man tool slip once years ago. It was dim in the room I was working and I didnt notice ( my eyes were on my work) untill all the tools I kept grabbing out of the lamp light kept slipping. Blood.

I was okay. had a coffe cup to catch the blood. I washed it out was doing fine then wondered why there was TWO holes in my fingerwhen the knife slipped once.
" Entry wound, Exit wound." I thought. Then went and passed out.

I'm all for doing home First Aid, $$$$, but it's your most important tools in art. Dont risk your hands.
    I trust your judgement. :-)

Been there done that. Stitches are required. Consider the resulting scar as a custom accessory!

Damn, I was hoping for some pics. Just keep it clean and glued shut till the skin knits it closed, should be about 2-3 days. If it does not turn green, your good to go.

dude go to the dr. not worth the risk ... you could have nerve damage that the dr. could fix if you have it looked at. Sure superglue is great when you don't have another choise ... but you only get one set of fingers

Ouch. Yeah, you gotta be careful with those things. Hope you heal OK. Super glue isn't really intended for deep cuts.
