    Neck plugs - HELP!

I am trying to make neck plugs for my Burger King heads. These are bobble heads so they have a hole in the bottom with a stub of the original neck.

I have tried fashioning a plug out of sculpty but it seemed to keep turning to dust. I even tried Playdoh but it shrinks too much.

    Will modeling clay work?

    Any tips for this novice?

I have had pretty good luck with calking. If you use Dapp calking its water clean up and stiff enough to work with. And when it sets up its easy to trim to fit.And its paintable too thats a big plus.

Milliput is good stuff. I also like Magic Sculpt but any other 2 part epoxy putty will also do the trick, really.

          Hmmmm....

Yeah, epoxy putty is probably your best bet. For something like this, I'd probably get half a wooden sphere the proper diameter, attach it to the bottom of the head and run an eyebolt through it and make one of them rolly joints. A rigid plug which is added on might not be strong enough to survive being inserted.

Is an eyebolt one of those screws with a loop on the end? I like using those when converting heads that don't have the same neck plugs as a Mego. Never thought to use the wooden half-sphere to make a ball joint. Nice tip.

Yeah! That's them. You can attach it to the bottom of a neck plug and tie it off to the hip-piece cross bar with elasticized cord. That way you don't have to worry about a ridge on the plug to hold it in. (Works well with a Doc Mego body, since the solid torsos don't allow for squeezing a rigid plug in.) If there's no stem at all, the ball joint works pretty well 'cos the pressure on the rubber band doesn't pull at the connection between the head and joint.

I did that for my Doc Ock custom. I used the head from one of those 9" figures that came out a few years ago. The head is connected to the body by a long stem that didn't want to come out. I ended up just pulling it out as far as I could and cutting it. Then I just stuck the eyebolt in the bottom and restrung the whole thing.

Probably. Just trying to get some ideas. Tried sculpty and it didn't work. These guys are for display only so a dowel would work.

I have to get one of those small triangular shaped screwdrivers so that I can remove the bobblehead post and spring.

                          NOVICE ALERT:

Has anyone ever just tried cutting a neck post off a Mego head and supergluing it to a head?
I was considering this for a SuperJoe custom.

Yup. It works, but the eye screw is my preferred method. I've never been a fan of the resin neck plug...

Well I found that a wire connector (twist plug for wiring) slips nicely into the hole in the torso and I still had a short piece attached to the spring (Bobble head head!).

So I Liquid nailed the the wire connector to the neck post and dropped it on the body.

Now I have Bobble Head Burger King MEGO's!
