    Removing paint from MEGO horses

Is it possible to remove the white paint from the "Shadow" horse without doing any damage to the horse?

I do not want to do a total repaint of the horse because the light brown color is good for my needs, I'd just like to get rid of the white (particularly on his face.)

Any tips on how this can be done?

I used to remove paint from models with oven cleaner containing lye; the harsher the better. It would sometimes remove the colour from the plastic, though, and some types of factory paint (like on the Multiple Toys Apes figures) were impervious to it.

Shadow is one of the more rare Mego horses. It would be a shame to alter his paint. If you're going to customize one, the best bet is the POTA action stallion. You can buy 3 or 4 of those for what you can get for a nice Shadow. Add a can of spray paint in the appropriate color and you've got the custom horse you wanted, plus $50 in your pocket.

It'd be different if my "Shadow" horses were complete and boxed or at least loose and complete... They're both loose & neither has any accessories... And, to top it off, one has it's "remote control" snipped off completely, and the other one has part of the original wire from his, but it's wired to some other battery pack the previous owner put on it. (And that battery pack doesn't even have a cover!) I'm not sure if that one even works...

But if you do want to trade, PM me...
