I think once they seen these that they would use them. They are really great looking figures and could see them using them and having alot of fun on the show with them.

I'd do it but I'm sure this took alot of work from you and I can see why you don't want them ruined or lost but still a shot that your work could be on David Letterman! Come on K! Go for it.

Letterman Show and Figures

Sounds awful but I was an intern previously with a management company.

It depends on who these guys are and how close to the writers they are... doesn't sound good to me.

Basically if they mean a lot to you don't send them off so willingly.

These guys here all have the right idea however. Why not get in touch with the guy and have them give you 4 tickets to a show's taping. If you can afford to spend a day in NYC tell them you'll bring the figures in person in exchange for tickets. .. You are not giving them away just showing up with them.

Many interns work on these shows at all kinds of levels. Some folks do and some do not interact with the stars so It's hard to tell.

Oh that mananger I interned with, we were the ones who signed the 8 x 10 glossies fans were sent. I had refused to do so because the biggest act he had was in the office daily. I thought it wrong to deceive people like that but they did it.

You make very good points. I know that I will not be at ease during this whole process, and you're right in that it'd be much safer to hand deliver the figures. It'd be difficult now, as I'm teaching and the semester doesn't end 'til late December. It's a fine line: I don't want to take so long to send them so that they decide to scrap the idea of possibly using the figures. On the other hand, I don't want to be reckless and send them off flippantly.

When I called the Late Show the second time and spoke with this guy (he is apparently head of Late Show Audience Show and Tell), he was more reassuring and more polite than the first time we spoke. He said he'd keep an eye on them and would ship them back in the same condition as received. He had the intern handle writing the initial letter to me and sending me an email with his shipping info. I did confirm the info and shipping method directly with him, though, and told him I'd email the intern with the tracking information and insurance info when I ship.

Ugh....I'll be nervous the whole time, but I'm trying to avoid my natural tendency to play it safe. *gulp!*

I appreciate all the comments and I have my fingers crossed that all goes well. Of course, I'll keep you all updated.

With all respect to roman...
"fake signing glossies" and working out a deal with an intern to see if your figs can
potentialy be on the show is a bit different in my eyes---I think the most you have to
worry about is if you eventually have to call to get them shipped back if they haven't
been on in a certain amt. of time---and then, I'm betting you'll get 'em back safe and
sound---for now---don't worry K and every one's here wishing ya good luck!

Well...I did it: I shipped off Lil' Dave and Lil' Paul to the Late Show.

....just in time for the writer's strike!

I sure hope somebody's there to receive them and keep an eye on 'em!
