Mister Bones is the name given to one of a number of genetic experiments collectively known as Helix. He had the misfortune to have invisible skin and muscular structure, meaning that he looked like a walking skeleton. His touch was also fatal, giving anyone exposed to it a lethal dose of cyanide. Initially acting as a villain under the direction of his creator, Bones was remanded into the custody of the young heroes of Infinity Inc., whom he assisted on a number of missions. When the team battled against Injustice Unlimited, his cyanide touch was used against his will to kill Sky-Man, the heroes' leader. Although technically innocent of the death, Bones is thought to carry considerable guilt over the incident.
Through as yet unrevealed circumstances, Mister Bones came to be the director of the north-eastern branch of the D.E.O.. In this capacity, he has many dealings, covertly, with the super-human community, often seeking to control them. An attempt to control, and later to discredit, the Martian Manhunter, went wrong, but Bones appers to have plans for the new Justice Society.
