    Resin neck plugs for sculpting?

Does anyone make "blank" neck plugs that you can sculpt onto? Seems like I've heard of that before, am I imagining that? I've been doing some sculpting, but I need a nice Mego plug on the heads, not sure how to accomplish that.

    Thanks, smart dudes.

Can't you just sculpt it on? Since you're sculpting the head already...

Or do you mean a blank head with neck plug? I've seen those for sale from a former member here.

        Hmmmm....

You can attach a bit of dowel for a plug. I keep my failed castings too; sand 'em down and use 'em as the base for a lot of heads.

I just use a wood dowel and sculpt the neck onto it...or around it I guess I should day. I'm a hack though, I'm sure the more talented members will have some better ideas.

I think Cast-a-way has generic superhero heads that you could sculpt on top of. Don't know what they cost tho per head.

You could always just make a mold of any old head with a good neck plug, and then pour a cast...and then just dremel away the features. Then you can pour another mold of this so you can make countless casts. Just a thought. Maybe I'll try it too.

Thanks, yeah, I stumbled on that last night. Guess I'll go the dowel route.

You can get tiny eyebolts at the ahrdware store. Screw one in the bottom of the head and use an elasticized string to anchor it to the abdomen piece. That way you don't have to worry about a lip to hold the head in. Perfect for them bodies with rigid toraos.
