    Resin Heads on CTVT Body

    GRRRRR....

I know I've seen a detailed How-To explaining how to get a resin head on a CTVT body without splitting the shoulders - but now I can't find it.

    Does anyone have the link?

Couldn't you just sand (or carve) the neckplug down a little bit so it'd fit in there?

I've done that a bit - maybe I could go a little bit more.

Do you use hot water to soften the plastic on the body? I thought someone on here had that tip.

I just Exacto knife the neck hole a little bigger as well as cut the resin plug a lil skinnier and PRESTO.

I found that Doc Mego's resin heads, like the one he makes for the talos figure (good old 'egghead'), is actually alittle rubbery, particularly after it's been heated up.
I was able to heat it up with a hair dryer nicely, and popped it into a 6" CTVT boby, no problem.
Of course, it took awhile to heat it soft enough...about 5 mins. or so....

A hair dryer is your best friend. Especially those mini travel ones.
Best device for me to control temperature if you plan on heating up things to make them malleable.
Make sure that it doesn't get to hot or it will crack. What I do is also blow on what ever I'm heating to help control the temperature better.

I've burned stuff with a hair dryer, but never with boiled water. And I prefer to heat the body and not the head if it's resin. CTVT bodies soften up great, so the heads pop right in.

I've used hot water a couple times with success... But one time I held a torso in (literally) boiling water and the chest was on the verge of starting to sink in... I got it out before any real damage occured, but there is a very slight indentation...

Only soak the neck/shoulder area and not the chest in the hot water. I don't use the water as it is boiling. I transfer it to a mug or other smaller container. And I just soak as much as needs to be heated, not the whole thing.

FYI .... Resin neck plugs Can be sanded , smoothed and adjusted to fit holes too. I know this may be an interesting concept , and might have overlooked it being mentioned in this Thread, but just wanted to add the thought if it wasn't.
