    Question about vintage Mego necks......

Good morning, recently I picked up a vintage all original RC Batman. When the figure arrived I noticed that the head would pop out of the body fairly easily. Upon closer inspection, it looks as if during original assembly from Mego there might have been some extra "flash" on the neck itself that might not have allowed the neck to fully "seat" in the neck hole. This in turn caused the neck to be kinda pressed flat at the ridge that should secure it in the body.

Has anyone ever run across this in the past? I've heard of some folks in the 1/6th scale world using various chemicals to sometimes "expand" a figure's head to a degree. Acetone maybe??? I'm definately NOT going to submerge the entire head.....just the neck post area.

Anyone have any tips for solving this problem???

This RC Batman head is damn near mint.....

    THANKS,

    Brian

I would recommend using heat, either hot water or a hair dryer, to allow the neck to return to it's original shape.
I like using the hair dryer. Heat it up 'til it's really warm and often you'll find the neck will begin to restore back by itself. Feel free to help it along with your fingers, just don't burn yourself with the dryer. Ouch! I would heat it up, see if starts to reshape on its own as you warm it up, then turn off the dryer and continue to shape by hand, then apply more dryer, etc. until you get it back to shape.

      Acetone will shrink it.

Ack, ok, so it was the reverse process of what I thought

actjac01, I used to use hair dryers all the time when swapping 1/6th scale heads.....so I'll try that method first THANKS!
