I recently acquired something called Paperclay at Michaels, and i was wondering if anyone on the board has used it to make custom sculpts. Tell me your stories...Thanks

what is it?? I've never seen the stuff. You must try to generate happiness within yourself. If you aren't happy in one place, chances are you won't be happy anyplace. -Ernie Banks -
I picked it up when i stumbeled upon it in Michael's. The main reason i picked it up is because it says it's a self-drying clay. The Paperclay is made by Creative Paperclay. http://www.paperclay.com Basically it's really maliable Sculpy that dry's very quickly. I'm working on my custom head sculpt for Orion and the sun symbol on the front of his helmet dryed with 20 minutes. It can be painted on, lacquered, and just about everything else you can do with regular sclupy except that it feels more like yeast, or pizza dough in texture. So far i would say it's best for adding finishing touches to head sculpts. I don't think i would attempt to make a full head sculpt with it. It also adhered to the sculpy i used for a majority of the head with no problem. Pretty cool overall. It wouldn't hurt to give it a try.NO SIR, I DIDN'T SEE YOU PLAYING WITH YOUR DOLLS AGAIN.

If it's the stuff I'm thinking of, it's not durable enough for a finished head. It might work ok to make an original, and then make a resin cast. However, before casting, I would seal it really well because I think the clay is pretty porus.Hey! Where's the waiter with the water for my daughter?
Check out my customs!

I agree, It is a bit fragile for a stand alone head. Pretty good for adding accents to helmets, shields, etc. though...NO SIR, I DIDN'T SEE YOU PLAYING WITH YOUR DOLLS AGAIN.
