    1/9 scale Predator and Alien

Need some help here, maybe some pics?

I got back from MonsterMania in Cherry Hill today, and saw the old NECA Alien figure - it's listed as being 9" tall, and I was considering getting it to put on display with my Megos. Does anyone have one already, and if so, how does it stack up next to your basic T2 Mego?

To keep on topic, is there a 1/9 scale Predator as well, and what about a 1/9 scale Terminator? Just curious, as I'm also considering making a custom Arnie, a Colonial Marine, etc. to do battle with said monsters.

If anyone has any contenders, pics of the beasties next to a Type 2 Mego would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

No signed paper can hold the iron. It must come from men. The words of Ten Bears carries the same iron of life and death. It is good that warriors such as we meet in the struggle of life... or death. It shall be life."

    Hmmmm....

The AMT/Ertl model Alien is Mego scale. I've got one chopped up that I'm converting to a T2 equivalent and it's going fairly well.

If that's the model I'm thinking of (the one with movable head and shoulders), it is perfect scale:

I haven't seen a Predator in the same style/scale, though. I've got the new NECA versions, but I haven't compared scale with the Megos. I think they're at least close.

That's him! (Although the pic is missing the head dome.) I'm pretty sure it's the same molds as the '79 amt release. I got everything from the waist up being molded now. I thought it'd look better as a T2 body molded with the alien bits over a suit of some kind. More playable too. Bigest problem is the tail; the model one needs to be extended, and I haven't found a good material for it yet. (It'll be like a bendy toy.)

          >I haven't seen a Predator in the same style/scale, though.

I think for the Predator you'd only need the head. hands and feet. The rest could be a costume. Maybe one of the toy ones would have a head in scale?

That's kinda funny... I just bought an AMT 1:9 alien model a few days ago to do the same thing!

I'm going the WWMD/tinman route though... chest outer clam, head and hands, (possibly boots) and a fabric tail... thinking of screening the rest on a suit.

PS - I'm getting some Nostromo Environmental Suit pics together, if anybody is looking for ref shots just let me know.

Is the Alien head on the 1/9 model big enough to fit over a mego head as a helmet/mask by any chance?

I saw some predator figures at the comic store and Toys-r-us today that are as tall as the Mego figures.

Well mine was e-commerce, so it's still shipping. I'd imagine not though - even over an AJ head that neck opening would be pretty small. You could retro-fit anything though... Were you looking to recreate a little MaxxFX magic?

Lonnie - that NECA line does look promising, but are they "over 7 inches tall" by a lot? Sounds like they may be a wee bit shy on the height scale. I know the Mcfarlane Alien was far too dainty looking next to a standard T2.

I held a Dr.Venture next to it and it looked the same size to me. The masks on them look too big for the figure. So they would probably work great.

Are the helmets on the NECA Predators figures removable?
