Printing a well-saturated black color onto fabric

I've bought a few printed suits in the past. And don't misunderstand me--they were very nice.

But I've noticed that is seems difficult to print a proper deep black color onto the knit. Is there any way to improve this?

I'm mulling over a few Mad Monster line extensions, and black is a pretty essential color...

    Thanks!

I can speak as one who has worked for years to get a good way to do printed suits at a low cost at home. I use a printer, and black and reds don't work well. I've recently begun to use fabric markers and Prisma-color markers to enhance my printed suits. I have done this in the past but at times it would bleed or you could see the strokes, and at times there would be "ink overload" having so much ink that when you hold the suit it colors your hands...not good. I've figured out a way this year to use the markers, then a hot iron to set the ink. It's still not a perfect process but it is the best I've been able to get. It takes a little more time to make a suit now but I think they look better than anything I've made in the past.
There are other ways to do things, there's even a screen printing at home home kit for a few hundred bucks at some hobby shops. It even has an infomercial.
I hope some others chime in on this, I'm always open to learning a thing or two.

        Hmmmm....

If you're careful you can airbrush solid colours in.

Ed, would it be possible to do multiple passes prints with layered color fields?

For example, printing a base field of gray or blue, and black thereafter?

Also, for something like a gill-man, or scaled material, could the design be printed on green jet-set?

I like the fact that your suits are durable yet stretchy...I think that that's where printing probably tops transfers.

I've been hoarding jet-set-type knit for years in various colors (still need orange!) and am wondering if it can be printed on...
