Spider Woman seems like an obvious choice, especially since Mego could have marketed her as a counterpart to Spidey. I know, that's not necessarily the case, but they could have used her that way. Black Widow would be my next pick, and then Ms Marvel.

Yeah, Ms. Marvel looks surprisingly good in retrospect & she's a big gun, now.
I'll bet Mego would have recycled the Conan belt-scabbard & sword for Sonja; part of her "costume" could've been from that silvery Knights knit.
For me, Scarlet Witch is as essential as Sue Storm.Last edited by PNGwynne; Jul 21, '10, 6:25 PM.WANTED: Dick Grayson SI trousers; gray AJ Mustang horse; vintage RC Batman (Bruce Wayne) head; minty Wolfman tights; mint Black Knight sword; minty Launcelot boots; Lion Rock (pale) Dracula & Mummy heads; Lion Rock Franky squared boots; Wayne Foundation blue furniture; Flash Gordon/Ming (10") unbroken holsters; CHiPs gloved arms; POTA T2 tan body; CTVT/vintage Friar Tuck robes, BBP TZ Burgess Meredith glasses.Comment

Not really....they didn't start to break her out as a character until a few years after "Superhero Women" was released during Byrne's 1st Avengers run. And then a few years later the various Vision and Scarlet Witch mini-series. Probably her most iconic storyline during the 70s was her marriage to the Vision but that also included Mantis marrying the Swordsman so it's really not a stand-out story showcasing Wanda.Think OUTSIDE the Box! Marketing trumps longevity. She-Hulk would have made it, as would Spider-Woman. Hulk and Spidey were huge sellers of all things in the late 70's/early 80's so a female extension would have been a natural, especially with Spider-Woman's cartoon and solid sales for She-Hulk. Also, I'm sure Marvel would have nudged them to the forefront. It's the same reasoning behind Supergirl and Batgirl.
Ms. Marvel and Scarlet Witch before Wasp.
The original X-Men were put out to pasture by this point, so Storm would have been cost-productive by re-rooting Uhura.
IMO, Valkyrie could have made it before most others. She can stand alone as a counter to Thor and isn't as "risque" as Red Sonja.
As for villains I tend to go with Enchantress and Black Widow.
So following the same pattern
- She-Hulk
- Spider-Woman
- Ms. Marvel
- Black Widow
- Valkyrie
- Scarlet Witch
- Storm
- Enchantress
- Medusa
- Wasp
- Jean Grey

Hmmmm....
Tough question. I don't think Spider-Woman would have made it; Marvel seemed to be pushing her at the time, but cartoon or no I don't remember her being that popular. Black Widow and Wasp definitely; they were everywhere. I'd say the Scarlet Witch too; she wasn't a lead character but she showed up everywhere and seemed pretty iconic for the time. Medusa shgowed up a lot too, so I think she would have made it. MAYBE Valkyrie, and maybe Jean Grey.

I have noticed that Storm managed to get into some PSA comics of that era (along with Luke Cage).

I would have killed for a Spiderwoman figure...... followed by a Black widow. That would have been great. And beside that... if they extended their western line to include the original Ghost Rider...... That would have been Awesome!!!WHEREVER YOU ARE IS WHERE YOU ARE AT
