    Removing Ink from Vinyl Head?

I recently purchased a toy (non-Mego) that has some blue ink from a ballpoint pen on its face. What's the best way to remove the ink without damaging the toy?

The information found here is listed below: How to Remove Ink from the Skin or Face of a Vinyl Doll - Associated Content - associatedcontent.com

It is possible to remove ink stains from the skin or face of a vinyl item. If you or your child has a doll with pen marks on the face or skin, try the following method to remove the stains. This effective method of removing ink from vinyl is fairly cheap, and you’ll save an otherwise ruined doll.

10% Benzoyl Peroxide and a Lamp

As unbelievable as it may sound, 10% benzoyl peroxide acne cream removes ink from vinyl, and it works beautifully on dolls. Acne cream containing benzoyl peroxide is available in different strengths, so make sure the cream you buy contains 10% benzoyl peroxide.
Apply the benzoyl peroxide to the stain, and allow the cream-covered stain to sit beneath the light of a standard lightbulb for at least two hours. The lamp should be about four inches from the stain, and make sure the vinyl, as well as the clothing, do not come in direct contact with the hot lightbulb. Occasionally check to make sure the light isn’t too hot for the distance between the lightbulb and the doll, and adjust the lamp accordingly if necessary.

After the stain has been under the light for about two hours, remove the benzoyl peroxide acne cream with a damp rag. If the ink isn’t completely gone, another application will probably do the trick. Simply apply the cream again, and allow the doll to remain undisturbed beneath the light for another two hours. Repeat this process until the ink stains are completely gone. You’ll be amazed at how well this ink removal method works.

^^ removzit is a commercial product sold to take ink and stains out of vinyl dolls. It is basically the above method. As an alternative to removzit, you can use any acne cream, even the generic store version.

I have had good results with the remove zit twin pines product. It has about a year shelf life and when new works faster. I had a original mego robin glove that was painted blue with a sharpie. I used the remove zit on it and now its back to its original color. Works great with vintage heads. I have even used it on 12 inch vintage joes.

No all that does is dissolve adhesives for the most part. WD40 will do the same thing as Goo Gone as long as it's on an item the oil won't affect.
It's not a doll it's an action figure.

Thanks for posting your tip, Jessica. I've been using Clearasil the last couple of days and it's definitely working.
