    Custom Figure Index

Whenever I'm looking for approaches to customs, I'm left to rely on either the forum search or browsing through the gallery.

It left me wondering if there's any interest in trying to create an index based on character and either have it as a sticky in the completed forums or at Customego. For example, you could have an alphabetical character list and when you click on one, it takes you to a gallery of each custom made by members of that character with a small write-up on the process.

Just an idea. I think it would be a good catalog.

All I can say is that when I started my collection way back when, I would
have DIED for something like the potential that this would have in 2010.
Of course it'd take a lot of work...so ya never know.

I think the first step would be for everyone to make a list of their completed customs and we tally which is the most common to the least, in one thread. For example, the first post in the count thread would keep a running tally updated everyday. That list would then become the character index.

At the same time, someone on the museum end would have to figure out how/where the images are hosted. I'm thinking maybe through the user gallery, and each character page is one collation of linked images for that character. So when you click on Daredevil, it takes you to an image gallery of everyone's DD.

I agree, that would be great. I have searched high and low for images of customs I am working on for ideas. So many images have been removed from threads, it would be nice if they got put someplace for reference.

I'll start the process if whoever the right admin contacts me.

Cool. I'll work on a breakdown.

I'll open a new thread to start the figure count.

              Hmmmm....

The old Museum had something like that.... a list of customizers and galleries of their stuff.... but I wonder if that'd be feasable given the number of customizers and how many figures they've done.

Yeah, I remember that but it was based around the customizers, not the characters. If you base it on the character and someone likes the work done, they can then follow it to their gallery.

I would recommend investigating a WIKI approach to this so everyone can add to it and edit as needed.

We had a real nice gallery for Famous Cover customs that was indexed by character or customizer. It was great resource, but I think the site disappeared over the years.

As you can see it hasn't been updated in awhile, but it's still here.

I'm not sure exactly the best way to do this yet, but it doesn't hurt to gather the pics in the meantime.

Great idea, but isn't this gonna take up a lot of bandwith?

JoeCustoms.com Home is a website that specializes displaying in 3 3/4 joe figure customs. They use a great alphabetized database setup that works great.
