Complicated shirt advice

I'm making a custom of one of my own characters and I'm having trouble with the shirt. I was proud of myself for making the turtle neck part but its the switch from white to navy blue that has me stumped. How should I best approach it?

take your basic shirt pattern,have a few copies sometimes it takes a few tries.draw your color seperation lines. now cut the sections apart now take these pieces and add an 1/8th of a inch on both sides ( for sewing seam) now cut material and sew together. not that hard. if you want help pm me.

Depending on how you are doing it and how tight it needs to be, there are acrylic paints specifically for material (intended for t-shirts and such). You'd need to make some lines to follow (maybe the chalk used on material) and it's not easy to paint a straight line, at least for me, but it can work at this scale. you just need to make sure the material you're using will actually take/absorb the paint to an extent.

If you do it with seperate material pieces, just make sure the seams fold under the navy, if possible (a little touch from a glue stick can suffice). Again, depends on how thick the material is, but it's easy for things to show through white, even the skin tone sometimes.

Thanks for the advice guys. I'll be starting the project later tonight. The white is basically t-shirt material. The navy is more of a spandex kinda thing. I don't think I'll be giving her the belly shirt exactly like the picture because Mego's don't exactly have sexy bellies.

Metzger, painting a straight line is easy if you have masking tape and something solid to work on.

Yes, I made the jeans awhile back. I didn't want Dr. Zaius to be shirtless for the photoshoot. If you notice, the pockets do work. That's tough for Mego scale.

That sock idea is really great. I might give that a try.

I've done the pants so far, they turned out pretty well. I think I'm going to add the "fly flap" on the front and after seeing those great pockets, I may even do that too.

Thanks to all for the great advice and support so far. This particular character is rather close to my heart so I want her made up just right.

I was at a used clothing store today, and found this shirt for $8. I didn't buy it because I wasn't sure if you would have been interested in it. It's a striped shirt, with navy and white (not brilliant white though), but the fabric is really soft and thin and would be perfect for Mego stuff. You could probably make 15 outfits out of it, perhaps more. It was a big shirt.
