    Pez Heads

Have any of you had very much success with modding Pez dispenser heads for fitting the 8-9"scale? I picked up a new Batman Pez dispenser with a nice new mold tonight (scoped out a nifty new Iron man and new Spidey mold as well) and thought it would be perfect for modding my RC Hasbro Bats but am a little iffy on going forward with it. Any tips on this? Should it be dremeled out or simply cut away? Molded and started fresh? What would be the best approach when using this? Lop off Bruce's head and stick this one on?

Hmmm... You might want to check out my Re-visiting Custom BATMAN thread.

In it, I have recently begun to do a detailed photo chronicle of how I am creating my custom 8 inch MEGO Batman with a removable cowl (using a PEZ candy dispenser to make the cowl).

But be forwarned, I am doing a LOT of re-sculpting and Dremeling as I create the cowl.

I used a Darth Vader Pez head, perfect in scale and Paul used a Pez Emperor head for a custom. They look great

Hey Orlock. if you are using the current Batman Pez. (from the set that includes Joker and 2face.) Its more close to a 1/6 head. I test fitted it on a GI Joe body and it matched scaled perfectly. I might even through it together some day.

The Iron Man is more like 9 inch scale, I used it for the Red Tornado.

That's the base of my Vader mod - PEZ had been quite a popular jumping off point for a few years... Scales vary widely though. In my opinion the Darth was just about the only useful helmet design released.

Mine is re-sculpted quite a bit and I didn't quite have the tools to dig into the mouthpiece like I'd have liked to:

I was burnishing out the plastic and then adding wax details and finishing out the back. Then I made a casting and micro-polished it for finish work to mold and recast again.
I imagine a different sculpt mod would be a magic sculpt or green stuff kind of affair, and you'd probably want to mold and recast the finished product.

              Hmmmm....

They work, but yeah; you might need to resculpt some of 'em. (Like adding detail to the Stormtroopers.) I've hollowed out a few to use as helmets too.

Pez heads can work great for megos, and Klix heads also. If you use the actual head, sometimes making a successful neck plug can be tricky. It's doable but always gives me problems.

About the neckplug, wouldn't you just cast a casted neck plug off a casting youve already made. Then glue it to a cast of the pez then recast the whole thing?
