ordered my casting supplies, (the one recommended by Dunsel's mego madhouse) any advice for a new caster? I have big Ideas and want to get any at all tips I can before starting.
In my humble opinion, the most important thing to remember about working with any resin or polyurethane casting materials, is to work in a space with good ventilation and wear rubber gloves. The stuff is VERY toxic. Breathing the fumes when the stuff is kicking off, is super bad for you. I pour my stuff outside, and when I have a lot of casting to do, or big pieces, I do it outside or hire someone else to do it.

he isn't kidding, check out this thread here if you are new to doing this. I learned a lot since then (and what I did not learn I paid for with my health)
Ok, today is the first time I ever played around with resin and a catalyst (both of which I picked up at Michaels).
I had a rubber mold made of zubber (this stuff is tops for using it to create a rubber mold of whatever)
Now according to the resin it was 1 drop of catalyst for every once of resin. In my case about 2.5-3

wish me luck! just watched the instructional dvd, and per advice here i will be working outside. Read all the warnings and such and will be wearing my resperator( as I am asthmatic and do not want to risk anything) SO EXCITED, but will remain paitent and safety minded! If this goes according to plan, I will have a lil something for the Auction at the meet!
