Why has nobody ever reproed a Great White Shark ?

Considering how rare these things are, I wonder why someone hasn't reproed one yet.

Seems like a simple vacuform kit would be the best way to do it.

I've seen garage vacuform kits that are 100 times tougher and more intricate than the shark kit would be.

If anyone is interested, I bet you'd make a pretty penny on sales even selling the kits for a reasonable price - perhaps $25.00 a pop.

After finding a person to do it the toughest part will be finding a shark for duping.

I had a thought about that too.

Instead of using a hand carved wood model, what about just mould the shark in resin (as you would mould a Mego head) and then vacuform off the mold ?

This way the original shark don't get damaged because the resin mould will be the workhorse for the vacuforming process.

Compared to what a vintage shark costs, I'd be willing to pay quite a bit more than $25 for a well-produced facsimile--just my opinion.

Hmmmm....

Vaccum-forming something that big would be tough. (But not impossible....) A lot of folks use the shark from the Jaws game as a substitute. Works well, especially if you chop it down and repose it.

I do have direct access to a large vacuum form machine, but I have never seen an original Mego Great White Shark.

I think for those that have them, they are not interested in lowering the market value of their find. A nice reproduction of the Mego Great White would likely kill demand for the original since it was never a cosmetically very appealing playset.

That was the last that I seen to. I thought that the prototype was done. It has been a while and I have not visited that thread in a long time now. Last I seen of it the price he was asking was too much according to a lot of members here. ???

reevefan78 - Currently this project is on hiatus until my friend can get back to it and figure out a way to make it to our liking. We have NOT given up yet though........I'm just not sure when he'll be able to return to it. Hopefully something will happen with it by the first of the year. I'll be sure to post an update just as soon as I know something. Thanks to everyone who is continuing interest in this project. I too would like to see it come to fruition one day.

So, was the shark supposed to be a real shark Aquaman was fighting, or some kind of submarine-type weapon? The propeller has always made me wonder, but the box art looks like it's supposed to be a real shark.
