Casting resin heads price...........
Good News!!! Just came out of the Operating Room,...the removal surgery of the chin was a Success! The whole procedure took about 4 minutes (My Kids assisted me).....The Chin is Off (Sorry never was a Jay Leno Fan). Happy to report Mr.Flash is doing fine. Now on to the casting and repainting. My kids can't wait to get their own little Flash. Incidentally, i need (3) Flash emblems.
Post Surgery Flash resting peacefully.........
Sorry Jay!!!

If you can find someone to mold AND cast you 3 heads for 5-8 dollars because you won't pay more than 10, I say go for it.I think a lot of people in here who don't do this kind of thing, sometimes expect things be cheaper than they actually are... The hard costs of the silicone ALONE on a properly done, mego scale head mold, is much more than 8 dollars, I can tell you that for sure. If there are people out there, that disagree, and think it's cheaper, then by all means, knock yourselves out.

I don't make many heads to sell, but I do modify some and then cast them in resin, so I do have some idea what kind of cost is involved with molding.Leave a comment:

If it is just slightly too big, a straight mold and then recast might generate the shrink you need to get it 'just right'. A new cast shrinks just a little when it hardens, so you might get it good there. If you can sand the chin back to where you like it and then go for a cast, you may find happiness there.
If you were to ask a customizer to do it, I would agree with the 50 or so for initial mold and cast, plus 15 or so for additional casts.
Of course, then you gotta paint them.Leave a comment:

Here's the head in Question.....I purchased this 6'' Flash figure a few years ago from my local comic store. I had Reproheads casted for me to Mego scale for my personal collection. He casted it a bit,..Just a tad bit larger then Mego scale. Being a perfectionist... i wanted it recasted at a 1:1 Mego scale. However, before i do that... i want to try and reshape the protruding chin. I've been getting good feedback from fellow Museum members on how to go about this via fine sand paper sanding....(thanks to all for the info). However, Here's my dilema...my (3) kids have fallen in love with this Flash. Therefore, i need to make three of these Flash action figures for my kids (Personal family use only). My kids and i luv this Flash head. However, before i could send it out for recasting...I need to fix this chin (sorry it's the perfectionist in me). HELP!!!
Need to reshape that Jay Leno look........Beautiful paint Job by Megospidey!!!

So copies should be going at the original caster for around 10-12 dollars a piece.
Maybe 8-15 depending on who.
If you are wanting to get one recasted then probably in around $50 for the first and 10-15 after each one?
Just what I have seen.Unless you can get more buyers of the head then some casters will sell more for cheaper thus helping you to split cost.Last edited by fallensaviour; Feb 22, '10, 4:07 PM.Leave a comment:
