    painting advice: flame painting tips

    Hi,

Does anyone have a good technique for painting flames (for say Ghost Rider or Firestorm)? I'm not sure what the base color should be and how to highlight (or add) the other colors involved?

    Any help would be appreciated.

I paint the flame red, while the paint is still wet I mix yellow on it. In the end you have an orange base with red and yellow mixed in.

Base coat with a deep red, let dry... Drybrush orange over that, let dry... Drybrush yellow over that at the tips... Done.

I'm waiting for my paint to arrive. Don't have any advice for you yet. I'll have something to post in a week or so.

              Hmmmm....

If you've got one with a lot of detail to the flame, you can use a base of light yellow, drybrish red over it, hilight the red with medium yellow and detail the tips with light yellow or white. It gives you the charcoal briquette sort of effect.
