Hasbros Talking Indiana Jones sure LOOKED like the arms and legs from a Superposeable GI Joe would fit.

Any "custom" that starts with me on my hands and knees in the basement banging away at a plastic man with a hammer is doomed to failure.

I read The heated Green Arrow thread about original vs "fixing" . I thought " Whoah! these Mego Heads are nuts!" Then I remembered my long battle starting back in 1991 when Hasbro brought GI Joe back.

Even before that there was the search for the "ultimate " Frankenstien GI Joe. Eagle Eye, talking, real leather boots , real metal gun, did everything but wet its pants.

*sigh*

Make me feel better . Tell me some of YOUR custom disasters. The more expensive the better!

I'd like to gently remind you that we gots all ages reading this board and some of them are our own kiddos.
I know the curse filter is on auto, but it doesn't hurt to self censor a little bit as well.

I did the *** myself. I'll censor it more. I wasnt aware there were so many kids after i asked what superhero people would actually want to help them in a crisis and all I got back were photoshopped Playboy pictures.

I've had to skip over some threads browsing through with my kids, but they are usually pretty predictable.

I am by no means a teetotalling priss; But I spend an awful lot of time with my kids and they pick up on my interests which I then use as tools to jumpstart learning moments as it were. So we oftentimes browse the Museum together and look at customs a LOT right now as both kids are really getting into building and painting things.

So, anyway... I ain't trying to single you out either. Like I said a gentle reminder to us all that we gots all kinds and ages around here.

I admit I was upset when I logged on. I'm all about trying to live a rated G life style ( except for Zombies) If it's good enough for kids why not adults?

Mature Content confuses me because it is usually adolecent immaturity.

I got lots of duds. I save the irrevocably messed up ones for later efforts. (I have an old coffee pot full of wrecked and broken pieces.)

So far the most damage I've ever done in the custom making process was accidentally slicing my finger when shaving a part with an exacto. Sure the cut healed, and the body replenished the blood, and in the end the custom was finished (it was a star wars figure years ago but I can't remember for the life of me who it ended up being) but I never did get that blood stain out of a really nice pair of slacks.

Man if I counted all the Custom WWE stuff I had done on consignment and screwed up, I would have enough figures to have my own Royal Rumble!

I've had that happen aslip of the Exacto knife and you suddenly check to see if the figure is okay.

"Thank the maker" we were designed like Stretch Arnstrong. Put us in water and we heal up.

I can't even imagine the number of times I've sliced and nicked and gashed myself with my exacto! What's almost worse is the amount of stabs I've suffered from sewing costumes by hand. There is something about my technique that makes it so I stab the back of my fingers with the needle. It's usually the back of my index finger. Why? I don't know...it just really hurts to have a little doll costume dangling off the back of your finger. No real damage ever from the needle, it's just a really sensitive and stings for a long time.

This is kinda the reason I stay away from "Buying New" for spare parts. I try to score stuff at the goodwill on the cheap. But as for destroyed in action storys. I bought a SINGLE blond head from Dave (Cast away Toys) at Mego Meet. It was going to be Johnny Storm. Using a screwdriver I slipped when putting it on the body (Need I say more?). I painted a female 9" figure green for a SHE-HULK and all the joints glued shut. I tried to make an Ookla figure to go with a Thundarr the Barbarian figure I made. I took a classic Hulk Torso and some 9" figure limbs and strung them together. This didnt work too well and I couldnt find an orange boddy suit to fit because of the odd size. When the Classic Hulk torso split I pretty much went ballistic. The head was another series of blunders.
