    Adding a cat's tail

Has anyone here ever added a cat's tail to a custom?

I think someone here did a Tigra (Marvel) custom a while back, but I can't remember who.

I have an original character in mind, who is kind of like Tigra, except that she has a multitude of forms.

Her first form is human, the second form is a catgirl; complete with tail, claws, fangs, cat-like face, and fur (I'm thinking a major flocking job will be necessary for THAT.), the third form is a black housecat, and the fourth looks like a sabre toothed black leopard.

Which body should I put her on? Not a vintage, cuz they can't take the stress of a drill. I was thinking of getting a porno body from BK for this. The clawed hands and feet I can get from Type3Toys, and the suit I can make myself.

I just need ideas on how to make the tail look believable and prehensile.

    Any suggestions?

I did one for the Cheetah. I sewed a really skinny and long sock of leopard print material then ran a wire inside it for bending.

        Hmmmm....

I think it depends on the tail, and the outfit. There are a lot of times you could just sew on a tail, like Mego Catwoman. For posability you could run a thin wire through it attached to the suit. (If the wire is light enough. Use the hooks for Christmas tree balls.) When I did Scarlet I ran a wire through the tail and abdomen piece. The body is a complete custom, so the part could support the wire; but I think an original could too.

Maybe sewing on the tail is the best way. It would be a right pain in the patootie to drill a hole for the armature of the tail.

And how come I didn't get an email notification of the responses? I know I chose the option, but I didn't get anything in my email inbox.

For the "armature its one itty bitty hole for a florists wire how I did it. Superglued right in.

Joe do you need to put a knot on the inside end to keep it from being pulled out?

no, I drill it small enough to hold it tight with the superglue. Sometimes I'll fold over the wire so I don't have a sharpe edge to it. This was on a FC female body, so there is no way to get inside the body to do any knots or anything.

Not with a manual pin vice. And some patience. Okay.... LOTS of patience....

Polyester made a Cheetah for me (avatar pic) and the tail is poseable. She said it was a pain to make with the wire in it but the results are so worth it.

I'll do pics when I work on Talky Tawny's tail. It was really easy

HHmmmm! this kinda reminds me of the Blackcat lady from the Gary Seven episode of Star Trek or Shakra from DC's Warlord comic.
I'd go real simple for a tail. I'd get those fuzzy pipe cleaner things from the craft store. Shave the fuzz from one end and feed it through the costume. Curl the end inside the costume and sew it inside securely.
However you do it. I'm sure it will Rock!!!
