    Indiana Jones Update

After MikeOz gave me the brilliant idea to use some interior vinyl paint to get a brown leather jacket, I decided to dig-up my Indy figure and take some new pictures. I usually do the simple while background thing because it's fast, but I figured i'd try some "on location" shooting in my back yard for effect

I was never fully satisfied with this figure until now. It's about as good as I think I could have done. Many figures sacrificed parts to get this one right.

Wow...that came out GREAT! I might do the Coat, on Mine after all(what kind of Paint was that)? And where did You get the Bag?

One Critique though...Indy doesn't have long Hair. I would concider getting the Head Russ has, at CUSTOMSLAB...with a "Crew Cut". Unless You're going for the 1970's "KENNER Made Him" look? Great Job though!

Since I've never seen this figure before, I'll compliment you on how close it looks to Harrison Ford. Nice job!

A really cool custom. I have never thought of using vinyl paint. I'm gonna have to give it a try, it just looks really natural!

Wow, that painted coat really looks snazzy, like it was made in that color. Came out great!

                        Thanks everyone!

Couple things - the brand of Vinyl paint that was used is called SEM. You would get it a good automotive paint store (not like a NAPA or Shucks) or you can order it online. The color is Cordovan Brown. It amazed me how much it looks like it came made in that color. We'll see how long it lasts!

TheBat you nailed it. That's the look I wanted. The head is a DaveMc shrunken Kenner head with his custom paint job. I actually like that head best of all I've seen purely for the nostalgia factor. Not necessarily the best likeness but I used the same head for my custom Han Solo so I like the connection.

The satchel - I have no idea what it's from. It came in a lot of parts I collected over the years (same with the short-barrel Six-Shooter). When I saw that part it's actually the piece that made me start on the figure.

The shirt and belt are from an LJN SWAT figure. It's a short sleeve shirt but it's the correct off-white color (it's more off white in person than the picture). The short sleeve is fine since it a long-sleeve shirt would just bulk-up the figure and make the jacket harder to put on. I liked the LJN belt over the CHiPS belt becuase it didn't have all the bags on it so it looked more like a belt with a holster.

                        Jacket and Pants are CTVT

Boots are light-brown AJ fishing boots painted with the same paint as the jacket. I tried a lot of shoe options but thought that style was the closest but didn't come in the right color.

The Whip is homemade. It's very simple but I like how it came out. Basically find some thin yarn/heavy string in brown. Tons of options at fabric stores. Tie 2 pieces together at the top with a knot, leaving some of the ends free for the "tail". Braid it down the length that you want, then tie off another knot. For the handle, I broke a toothpick to the length I wanted, then tightly wrapped the string around the toothpick. Tie a knot at the end. I used a drop of superglue at the top and the bottom to hold the string in place and keep it from unravelling (hence the dark parts). That's it.

Bravo Albert, you really took this to another level. Oddly, the first thing I noticed after the jacket was the boots. Great choice!

Very nice Indy. If I ever stray from custom superheroes, Indy will be my first one.
