I put sculpy in the oven myself, for my FC Yellowjacket custom, it worked great following the instructions, but haven't tried it on a mego body. Since the body's not soft plastic, that should work fine.

I heard heat guns and boiling is fine as well, but haven't tried it.

Boiling works okay if you leave it in there for about 10 or so minutes then let it dry out real good. I've also used a hair dryer but not on a solid head. It takes forever!

I tried boiling my sculpty once and it came out like chalk, losing a lot of the fine details in the original sculpt and the smooth surface it had.

I've done this when sculpting right on to a plastic figure. What I did was I dipped it in boiling water for 30 seconds, then pulled it out for 30 etc for about 5-10 minutes. It worked out pretty good.
I brought the water to a boil. Then lowered it to simmer. Then started the dipping.

Take a microwave safe bowl with water in it and place in the microwave for
2-3 minutes. Place your parts in the water and let it sit. I do this all the time and it works fine. The sculpy will turn hard but you have to be carefull with it. If you drop it the sculpy pieces will probably break off.

When boiling Sculpey, I always put mine in a ziplock baggy before putting it into the water. I don't know if an original Mego body would survive an oven or not. I've cured sculpey on other styles of action figures in the past and it worked just fine, but there have been some mishaps as well. I know this, I'd think carefully about eating food that was cooked in the same oven where 30 or 40 year old plastic has been heated! Some plastics and dyes can leave harmful fumes and residue behind.
Let me ask you this about the head you're working on. Is the head all sculpey, just sitting in or on a body? Is there any way you could make a latex or silicone mold of it? Just get the brush-on mold maker stuff. First coat the head with some baby powder and brush a few coats over it, according the directions on the jar. You'll have to be very careful until the mold is done, and the sculpey might not stay intact when you remove it, but it might be less risky. Also, I like to coat the outside of latex molds with powder as well before removing them from the original to keep the surfaces from sticking to one another.

I always pick up the bake sculpty and I apply and shape the sculpty to a body then I used one of these lighters to heat up and bake the sculpty to the figure.

It takes a steady finger with this lighter to avoid burning the body but I have gotten really good. Some of my reason sculpts are my best work.

I did forget to mention the head is formed onto a Famous Covers marvel Body NOT a Mego body.
The head is about an inch think, it's a T-Rex dinosaur type of head.

Ditch the Sculpey and go to a two part epoxy type material for better more durable results. I used to boil them with the sculpy, now a couple years later cracks are forming and the figure is complete garbage.

Yeah, I would definitely not use the sculpey as a permanent head.

I found sculpey sucks. I don't like the way it crumbles after I cook it. I made longer Hulk legs and arms and the stuff cracked and fell apart. Standing in a clamshell on the wall cracking and falling apart... just a shame.

If your sculpey is crumbling after you cook it, you may not have cooked it long enough. Mine was crumbling until someone said that I can rebake it for 20 minutes minimum....that solved the crumbling....but definitely Mego bodies would not make it in the oven. Possibly the vinyl heads would survive in the oven (I do this for 1:6 scale all the time) but I have never tried a Mego vinyl head.
