New Photos - Mego Scale Bridge
Here are a few more photos:
The first set shows the newly constructed "square display screens" above the station consoles lit-up.
Some of the photos didn't turn out as well as I would have liked, but I think they still show the general effect pretty well.

This next photo shows the newly contructed "starfield screens" that will ultimately form the walls above the station control consoles.

Spoons!
John, already I can tell just by the shape of those spoons that they are going to be perfect. Obviously the trick will be in customizing the 'leather' backrest and the funky 60's stand they sit on. Way to go man- this just keeps comin' along!!

To me, the space looks a bit too small to fit the chair and the chair's base-- without crowding the helm & nav chairs.Last edited by Mikey; Oct 22, '07, 12:04 PM.Comment

It might look that way in the photos, but the space between the helm and the captain's chair will be true-to-form.
I started building the captain's chair, but I'm not too far along with it yet.
Right now, I'm concentrating on constructing the "starfield screen" walls above the station consoles.
Thanks!
Sincerely,

Star Trek 1/8 Scale Bridge Project
Thank you...and yes there is some new progress.
I will be rebuilding the two (full size) star screen wall sections closest to where the main viewing screen will be. It was pointed out to me that those two wall sections are supposed to contain only one star screen, not two as I have it.
Only Spock's science station and Uhura's communication station are supposed to have two screens.
I made this error due to my reliance on the old AMT Bridge model kit, as my main reference. I was not aware how inaccurate the AMT kit is.
Anyway, just for fun, here is a photo of my Bridge with several of the 9" tall figures aboard.

It shows Spock, Scottie, Uhura, and Chekov all checking things out. I believe they are pleased with the progress.
Sincerely,

One question about the Sulu/Chekov station .......
When I was building them out of cardboard, I had to disregard the true plans of making a leg opening for their knees.
In cardboard it would have made that area too unstable.
I just shortened the bottom of the console a bit to accomidate them.
Just wondering if you did the same..... ?
Or did you make it really-really true to the actual plans.
It was something that always bugged me.

Helm - Leg Openings
Because I patterned my helm after the AMT model kit, I did not make the leg openings either, although the styrene plastic would still have been pretty sturdy with them.
The top of my helm is very similar in shape to yours.
However, your helm's center section "astronavigator" is MUCH cooler than mine. (Again, I'll put the blame on the AMT kit.)
I am planning to totally rebuild my lighted astronavigator to make it look more like yours.
Man, your helm is awesome!
