    need help with 1/6 outfit

Have any of you ever seen an outfit in 1/6 scale such as this (or something close to it, pic below). This is the costume the Augers wore from the video game Night trap. The very old ebay auction this pic came from has the outfit described as follows:

"jumpsuit, light weight wrinkle material in black"

or if there is a way to convert an outfit to give it that jump suit wrinkle look like below (probably nylon assuming) please let me know

    any help is much appreciated

    Hmmmm....

It'll be tough to get it to gather like that at a smaller scale, but you could make jumpsuits out of thin fabric. It'd have to be real thin; thinner than t-shirt material if possible.

      re

I would not have the slightest on creating my own clothes for 1/6. Hypothetically if I found material thinner then a t-shirt what would I have to do to it to give that look?

      minor update:
hmm a long shot, but what if I got a regular outfit or mego style jump suit, but coated it with liquid latex and while it was "drying" I kind of "scrunched it up". If I then go about painting it black this might give that wrinkle look to a degree

Contact the folks at Project ARE.

They've helped me on occasion when I've come up on a 1/6 scale clothing dilema.

I would try thin black silk...probably sew the outfit first--but sew it a little larger than what you need because when you add the puckers it will pull in the outfit. Wet the finished outfit--wring it tightly--and then tie it onto itself. Let this dry. Once dry, and you spread it out, it should have the wrinkles you want. That's how they make broomstick skirts. That's what I would do.

          Anyway, good luck.

            >Once dry, and you spread it out

That's not bad; although you might want to give it a quick hiot of spray starch or hairspray when on the figure; otherwise a warm day could straighten it out.

            >what would I have to do to it to give that look?

The reals uit drapes like that 'cos it's way loose fitting. Gravity won't do the same at a smaller scale; although you MIGHT get a reasonable facimile by making it way too long at the limbs and torso, and sew in rubber bands to force it to gather the way you want. Kinda how Mego did the Trek pants, to make 'em look like they're bloused around the boot.

They have a fabric stiffening spray found at Michael's or JoAnn's. I think it's called "stiffen stuff" and people use it for forcing fabric folds onto clothing of dolls that are on display. I tried a little of it, but the outfit wasn't mine to keep, so I couldn't really force the detail I needed with the way the fabric hung.

A lot of suggestions and great info. I did email Project Are (thanks for the link name LadyZod), and I want to try the silk method mentioned by Jessica with parts of info from CTC (rubber bands). My only fear though is if I use a black silk even with wrinkles would it still look like black silk?

I did see on ebay a rubber nylon "soldier rain poncho" for 1/6. I have to test this as well. If I hold a lighter close to nylon it might start to crinkle up. If I do this in spots I might be able to get this wrinkle effect as well. Then paint it black with minor borwn for wear and it might come out ok

a lot of choices, little money but that is always how it goes. Does Michaels sell silk?

Michaels does not sell silk. Go to a Goodwill shop. Look in the womens blouses, too.

OK, I just thought of one. I don't know if they still make them, but there were long women's skirts(usually tie died or kind of hippie looking) that had the crinkled look, an old GF had one and she had to twist it up wet to get the look when dry. it was very thin material, so it might work for smaller scale.

That's the broomstick skirt I mentioned.

They still make them--I actually have a scarf and those are the instructions to give it the crinkly look. It's made out of very thin silk. What would make the texture unwrinkle is water/humidity.
