Okay,who has done hand casting and how easy is it? I mean casting mego hands not casting by hand. Well, I mean both, I guess. I want to make some custom hands and don't really know how to cast them in a way that will work well. I could do it crappy, but I want to avoid that. Any suggestions?

Talk about casting hands...my three year old nephew received a 6" spiderman for Christmas. This particular Spiderman had MOVEABLE fingers! I was so impressed that I wanted to steal it from him. I need to look for this Spiderman again. I was really impressed with the poseability of the entire figure.Those who look outside dream. Those who look within awake.

Hmmmm....
Hands are tricky 'cos of the fingers. When I do mine I do 'em with the wrist joint up, and use one side for pouring, the other is vented. (Make your spouts about 1/2 cm long, so air doesn't pool in the joint itself.) I run another vent around the hand, across the finger tips. It means a bit of sanding when they're done; but it also vents more air.

I was thinking maybe a thin latex glove (pun intended!) mold. Silicone is really expensive.Comment

Thats what I've used in the past, a glove mold with a big reservoir on top. I squeeze all the air out of the hand and fingers, fill the reservoir, release, and all the resin gets sucked into the fingers. Not sure how latex will work for this, I've only used silicone.
