Will the new EMCEs affect your customizing?

I am looking forward to getting all the MattyCollecter DC figures as they are released. However, I am sure they will be making a lot of DC figures that I already made for myself as customs. Green Lantern and Lex, for instance. So, I am contemplating taking my GL and Lex customs apart, after I get the new Mattcollectors. I will then use the parts for other customs. GL will be easy. I think I will remove the Hal Jordan head I made and replace it with a custom John Stewart GL head. Not sure what I will do with my Lex custom.

I will probably limit my customs going forward to Marvel, since there is so much potential now to go to TRU in the next few years and buy MattyCollector DC figures.

Hell Yeah I'll be Customizing with them!!! Which means Mattel will make plenty of Money off me. I'll buy on of each Figure to keep MOC, one to open and display, and one or more to Customize! Oh yeah, it's gonna be GREAT having all those Factory made Parts!!

I'll take it on a case-by-case basis - if it's a figure I don't have a custom of, I'm buying it. If it's one I have a custom of, and the Mattel version is better, I'm buying it.

I'm also waiting until Toy Fair to see what else is coming down the pike for 2010 - I'll absolutely pick up Mattel's versions of Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman when/if they become available, but I'm more jazzed to see what EMCE Toys, Zica Toys, Castaway, etc. have up their sleeves.
"It's sad that governments are chiefed by the double tongues. There is iron in your words of death for all Comanche to see, and so there is iron in your words of life. No signed paper can hold the iron. It must come from men. The words of Ten Bears carries the same iron of life and death. It is good that warriors such as we meet in the struggle of life... or death. It shall be life."

Until I see how the upper bodies compare in person, I plan on reenacting Predator on the Matty figures; take the skin and skulls, kick the rest off a ledge.

I do like the packaging more than expected, so I'm holding out hope for body parts.

This won't affect me in the least.

I'll be buying each figure but will also just do what I do with customs without regard to what's being mass produced. I don't allow outside stuff to influence my customizing path. I don't plan on using their bodies or parts either. If the Zica stuff is as good as I anticipate, I may start using a bit of their stuff.

I love Mattel and I love customizing. Unless the unforseen happens, they will not intersect.

Don't disassemble your customs. Sell them so others can enjoy your artwork.

                No.
I do not believe the Material I enjoy covering and Customizing will ever be made, if the Line continues for yrs to come. And it's more than Just like I need this figure,.. or now I have this, I don't need to make 1 ... I enjoy Making figures, and the Craft of Customizing...

I don't see it affecting much at all. There are plenty of characters that will never be made by mattel.

There are some Trek customs I want to try... but with Doc's announcment on more EMCE Trek this year, I'm holding off. It would be my luck to bust-buns on a custom, only to have Doc release a PERFECT version of the one I just made.

I've always customized at the 12" G.I. Joe size so it won't affect me one jot!

Heck no!!!! I'll never stop making customs!

I personally doubt there will be enough of these new figures or new lines. We'll probably get about five more of them before Mattel becomes no longer interested in making anymore.

Remember profit puts food on the fat cooperate man's dinner table. Losing money is not an option with a company like Mattel.

They are not know for putting out loads and loads of non selling toys. They cut things off as soon as it drops below the margarine in sales.

Either way, I am going to keep making new customs. Even if some miracle of a shot that EMCE/Mattel figures go through the roof, we'll never see characters like the Red Ghost, Daimon Hellstrom, Nighthawk, Captain Atom, Deadman, Ironfist or Cage....etc.......I'll keep making customs until I run out of room or lose interest.

If I ever get my hands on a Matty figure or two, I am sure I will order dozens to make customs from. I already have a Red Arrow idea already worked out from the one figure...etc.

From what I am hearing so far. The Mattel bodies are not the greatest and compared to a Mego body they are not that good. Maybe it takes some getting used to. I'll give you my personal verdict when I get that Green Arrow in my hands next month (providing he'll be there when I get to it).

From the pictures my friend Benjamin took of the naked Green Arrow body, I am impressed. Dr. Mego bodies are the best ever and I have no idea why Mattel decided to make new bodies. Dr. Mego already had the perfect design. Why **** with it?

I would love to see Mattel explode and these figures to come back but with today's technology taking kid's interest away with the computers (Internet or video games) and also less children reading and getting into comic book characters (like our generation did) it is highly unlikely. (but we can hope).

If it wasn't for me, my kids would have no clue who any of these super heroes are. The Internet and video games are what kids are into. Back in the day. we didn't have that and we turned to comic books and whatever was in our reach.

So, it is up in there air. It could go north or south with the sail of these dolls. I am crossing my fingers.

I'm going for so many smaller DC characters it is quite unlikely they will ever make them, even isf they make 3 sets of 5 a year. it would take about 3 years just to redo what Mego released if they only do 1 old hero per set. then expand the Superfriends and Justice League, maybe add some Titans, JSA and a few Legionaires, see how long this will drag out. plenty of time to keep making customs. esp. marvel ones!
