Has anyone made a DR Mego custom?

Seems obvious to me but I make custome of my friends.

Ex. Girlfriend never did agree she looked just like Spanky.

I have a friend who looks like Friar Tuck if I add glasses and anothet Im making up a bunch of for Christmas thats a dead ringer for the new CTTV Ralph ( when I put him on a Mr C body)

Anybody made wedding cake toppers ? or does the very idea negate ever having the need for a wedding cake?

I thought about doing this for my wedding, but I didn't feel like sculpting boobs onto a fat body. I'll customize myself when I'm thinner.

Well, I'm always dressed in black with a long leather coat and people always say I look angry, so I guess I nailed myself

I remember seeing something James Brady did of his co workers years ago that was pretty cool. I'll bet someone here knows where that link resides.
It's not a doll it's an action figure.

You know. As I am thinking. There was somebody a few years back that made a custom mego doll as a tribute to Paul Clarke (Dr. Mego). For the life of me I can't figure out who it was. It was a pretty good likeness. The member was an old schooler and I am sure he'll come out of the wood work once he or she hears about this thread.
Even though Paul Clarke (Dr. Mego) has been a major inspiration to me and my daughter, I never made a custom of him. I thought it might come off as "creepy" to him.

I did do a photo shop of Paul Clarke a few years ago. I basically took him and photoshopped a super hero type suit on him with the Dr. Mego logo.
Maybe if someone wants to make a custom of Dr. Mego this might be a cool costume to put him in.

So you thought a custom of him might be creepy, but that photoshop isn't?

Oddly enough yesterday morning I had the thought of doing just that. I know there are a few customizers out there, myself included, who have customs of themselves and other mego folk. DaveMc comes to mind as another. Last year he was given a second one at megomeet. I have never seen a Paul custom though. There is pleanty of referance material with pics from the meets posted, the Mego Con 2004 dvds, and even you tube mattel wgsh at comicon. I went on with my day, then saw this post last night. It's an omen I tells ya.

No. What I meant to say. That Paul Clarke (Dr. Mego) would probably think it was a little creepy or strange that someone would make a custom of him. Not saying anyone's attempt at making a custom would be creepy. I know I would think it was weird to have a custom made of me. One of my band roadie guys bought one of those plastic guitar hero guys and painted and adjust the figure to look like my stage character. In a way I was a little weirded out.

                          It is creepy

It is creepy to see a figure of yourself. Someone did send me a custom
of myself in jeans and a black t-shirt with my logo on the chest. The
head was rotocast painted vinyl so it was from a real toy line.

Considering I am the most common-looking white guy, it was pretty
close to reality - not what I would like to think I look like - but reality.

EMCE made a figure of Marty Abrams for his last birthday using the
Ponch head as a starting point. He said he liked it, but I didn't see
it at his house when I was there last week - unless it was in his
                          bedroom!

Actually, I suspect it went something like this...

[Marty Doll] Now, Princess Vespa, at last we are alone!
[Vespa Doll] No, no, I hate you, I hate you, I hate you, leave me alone! And yet, I find you strangely attractive.
[Marty Doll] Of course you do. Druish princesses are often attracted to money, and power, and I have both, and you know it!
[Vespa Doll] No, I hate you, leave me alone!
                            [Marty Doll] No, kiss me!
                            [Vespa Doll] No, no, yes.
                            [Marty Doll] No.
[Vespa Doll] Oh, ah, ah, ah, ah, oh, ohh... ohhhh, your helmet is so big.
[Doc Mego knocks on the door]
                            Doc: Marty... you in here?
[Marty Abrams hurries to hide the dolls.]
                            Marty: Did you see anything?
Doc: No, sir! I didn't see you playing with your dolls again!
