How to widen neck holes?

I have a nice early issue restrung classic tv toys dark gold body. I want to attach the Space 1999 bald gold head onto it, but of course it’s doesn’t fit, the rubber neck plug is to thick.

Because the neck plug is made of rubber, there’s no way that I know of to shrink it to fit, and I’m running out of ideas to widen the neck hole, I do not want to break or crack at the shoulders.

I thought I had read a post here some time ago, that gave you tips on widening neck holes without ruining the body.

If anyone has an idea or two, please let me know and thank you.

Have you tried scissors or a sharp knife where you insert in the hole and just turn to scrape plastic material slowly to increase the hole.

or

use a dremel with a round sanding belt/tube.

or you can take material off the head plug with the dremel tool.

I love my dremel tool, does it show .

I do not have a dremel tool, but it sounds like I should get one, not sure though how often I would be using it.

I have heard of the scissors trick and I also have a box cutter knife, I can try that.

Like Frenchy said, I use scissors. I've never used a dremel. Power tools and I don't get along. That's how I did my Iron Man. I got an original head on Ebay, but got a CTVT costume and body. That's when I discovered the hole was too small. Thought of the scissors on my own. Just put the blades in the hole and turn. Stop periodically to see if the plug will fit. It's worked great for me.

I love my dremel. If you're deft with one, you can get almost factory results.

Also, if you shrink a head in naphtha, the resized head will be more rigid and thus easier to dremel.
