Dorothy needs a hiarcut to become Aquagirl HELP!

Ok as the title says i have a Dorothy figure i need to give a haircut to. Tula/Aquagirl is Teen Titan Aqualads girlfriend and part of my Titans collection. she has short hair with a little flip in it. i can't post photo's but is Toyroom reads this and wants to add one big time thanks!

So the question is, what is the best way to give her short hair?
should i just pay someone to do a shorther reroot?
    do i just cut it?
but i can see the top of her scalp doesn't have rooted spots that will show, so do i glue that down and if so with what glue?
is there anyway to style original mego hair?

    I'd appreciate all suggestions Thanks.
    Bobby

      Hmmmm....

For short hair I'd be tempted to sculpt it. Thing is, not too much sticks to an original Mego head. I'm not much fo a hairdresser, so if you're gonna cut it I can't offer too much help; except I THINK regular hair spray will hold Mego hair.

Is this a picture of her? What I would do is roll up her hair in small dowels, and then boil the hair and then let it dry like that...and then unfurl it--but don't comb it out...and then I would cut it with very sharp scissors. If it looks like crap, then I would just sculpt it. But that's what I would do.

I agree with Jessica - a boiling water perm is probably your best bet. I like her idea of not cutting the hair until you know where the curls will lay. The only other recommendation I have is that you might want to add a little extra hair, because Dorothy's is rooted specifically for her haircut. At the very least, you could put a little brown paint on the scalp.

Very true about what Del just said about having to add extra hair, since Dorothy's hair was rooted for that haircut...Just use some of the hair you remove to reroot the parts of her head that will show up bald BEFORE you do the boiling water perm. You don't want to cut the hair too short since it will drive you nuts to try to wrap it around the small dowels to prep the hair for the boiling water perm.

Yes, that photo is the character and THANK YOU, I knew we had people who could teach me what to do!

But do you mean boiling the head with rolled up hair or pulling out the hair and rolling it up and then inserting it back in?
and how long do you boil it which ever way it is?

Forgot to say that it will help to wet the hair a bit before you wrap it tightly around the dowels...you will be able to make it more maneagable...and you can have various sizes of dowel diameters--thicker ones near the top of the head and smaller tinier ones towards the back and around the sides. (That's what hairdressers do for real perms!).

Cut some of her long hair off but don't cut too much--you need to be able to roll them up without going insane around the dowels. Drill additional plugs to cover up the bald spots that will now show up since you will be cutting off her hair. Re-hair the plugs. Wind all of her hair now in dowels...including the ones you just rehaired. I don't know how you will keep the hair from coming off of the dowels (I've never done this before!)...so I'm thinking rubber band them or wrap them in aluminum foil to keep the hair in place around the dowels. Let dry. Trim and see where the curls take you. Good luck.

Try a small patch first with the boiling water perm method to see what kind of curls are produced.

When I use dowels to curl doll hair, I hold the dowel at the very end of the hair, then slip aluminum foil over it, kind of like the papers women used to use with their curlers. Then I do the rolling. Once the hair is rolled to where I want it, I slip the dowel out, leaving the foil to hold the shape of the curl. That allows me to pin the curls to the doll's head to make sure they hang the way I want them to.
