    name that Fabric!

I am looking to do a custom project with the kind of fabric used on Green Arrow's green cuffs. But I have no idea what kind of fabric it is! Does any one know what it is and where I might find a decent amount of it for a decent price? Thanks for all the help!

You might check the specialty ribbons section of the shop. Wreath bows around Christmas time are done in the same velvet flocking, maybe you can find something there with the right backing? Good luck finding a color other than red or black though :/

Well, f you look at Christmas time, you should be able to find Green, but yeah, it can be tough to find colors of that ribbon.

But the ribbon is the best solution. I've looked all over for that kind of material with the proper backing and haven't found it yet. Besides the ribbon that is.

I agree, flocked ribbon is your best bet. At the holidays, you can find green, red, burgandy. Make sure you get the actual woven fabric kind--it doesn't fray when cut.

Plastic (non-woven) flocked ribbon is not a good idea--it splits easily and is nearly impossible to properly stitch, because it's too rigid.

Velveteen is softer & can fray; it is good for tailored garments but not great for cuffs/trim/appliques.

Polysuede is a bit mure fuzzy, like the orange trim on a Keeper robe. It comes in many colors, particularly at Hallowe'en, and could be used as well.

Another option is to use iron-on twill patches & trim them to the desired shape. You can even fuse lining material to them if you're going to use them for shoulder trim & the underside will show. Of course, the twill finish is not very Megoey, but it's another idea.

If you want to try a vinyl version, similar to the effect on Mr. Mxyzptlk, try cheap 3-ring binders or beach toys.
WANTED: Dick Grayson SI trousers; gray AJ Mustang horse; vintage RC Batman (Bruce Wayne) head; minty Wolfman tights; mint Black Knight sword; minty Launcelot boots; Lion Rock (pale) Dracula & Mummy heads; Lion Rock Franky squared boots; Wayne Foundation blue furniture; Flash Gordon/Ming (10") unbroken holsters; CHiPs gloved arms; POTA T2 tan body; CTVT/vintage Friar Tuck robes, BBP TZ Burgess Meredith glasses.
