I used a regular gas household kitchen oven. I utilized the vent fan just in case. But I detected no oders durring the proccess. I think the toxic fume issue is more prevaliant when plastics burn as apposed to just slightly melted. Working outside is a perfect suggestion but using a toaster oven may have problems of its own. The smaller heating area and closeness of the heating elements may cause irregular melting or cause the styrene to ignite!!! remember that the wooden frame I used needs to be propped up so the styrene can sag freely without contacting any of the oven inside surfaces.Did you do this in your household oven? Does the plastic give off any toxic fumes? I have wanted to do this for a long time. I have just been afraid of damage to the family oven...... I like the size of vacuform machine --- at that size I might be able to use a large toaster oven outside.
Best of Luck!Comment
