Soooo...sculpting. Kudos to who can do it.

After MegoMeet; the the gears have been turning in our heads.
My son and I want to start making figures.

I have a particular person in mind that I want to make. Far as I can tell, it will be the first time this person has been made in Mego format.

I dunno how you guys do these likenesses...but good gawd...after two beginner attempts, neither sculpt looks like the real guy

But, I will let you folks throw out suggestions as far as who these two sculpts look like....your ideas might help me see what "you" see.

They're obviously incomplete- no hair and just rough drafts....and hey, my very first attempts at human sculpting.

Not a bad start, better than my effort.

The top right picture reminds me a bit of spock.

Ray Walston? Walter Matthau? Tor Johnson? Zack Efron?

I think he looks pretty awesome, even if I can't tell who he is.

Those are pretty darn good for a first time. You just have to keep at it, I hear.

Not bad at all for a first attempt. This stuff is not easy. Practice makes perfect as they say.

The bottom guy reminds me a little of Zem-21 from Ideal's Star Team.

A lot better than anything I could do, especially for a first time

Good starts for first time. I know there are how to books on sculpting at the craft stores maybe they can help refine your work. It seems you got the talent though.

                          LOL.
Thanks folks for your comments and ideas.

Sad but true, I was studying pics of just one person when I did both of those sculpts. Yeah...go figure...have no idea how they both came out so different.

Having you guys say who "you" think they look like really helps my thought process.

The black sculpt- yeah, I can see spock, vin diesel....maybe even a Christopher Lee Mummy.

The Abe Vigota - yeah...all the while towards the end of that sculpt, I knew he looked more like a TV Personality, I just couldn't put my finger on who. Now that you guys have said it- it clicked. Now HOW IN THE WORLD my brain sculpted HIM from the guy I was looking at is a mystery- BUT, I now know what to expect in the sculpt process. Gonna start on a new sculpt to see if I can get closer to the person I am trying to make.

I hope I can start getting closer to sculpting a true likeness: I really want to tell you who I am trying to make.

also- a side comment...sculpting for me might go another direction. Seems when the creative juices flow, they flow. What I mean is, creating monsters, zombies, "unknown" humans...those sculpts might really work out for me.
Doing hands, legs, or whatknot...ought to be doable.
