    Black Mego Trek Accessories

I got this idea from another thread I started, but has anyone "dunked" the blue phaser and comm in black paint to start a custom black/silver phaser or black/gold comm so that it doesn't become a blob of black paint?

If I try to repaint one of my blue original phasers, or a set from an Emcee Scotty for example, what paint is best to use for this?

And along that line, do the 9" Playmate weapons work for the 8" Megos? I'm afraid to open my Sisko but he only brings $10 on eBay so I should do that right now and look for myself.

I guess I know where to get Boxes, Emblems and clothing. Does anyone sell or make Black accessories? And if so, has anyone replaced the Tricorder strap with something else? I did one with thread once but it was too thin. I could find thicker thread maybe? If you have any pix, please post them with the reply.

    Thanks.

Plastics, like the stuff toys are made from dont hold any kind of paint well. The paint will chip off in time. If you have done casting. that would be your best bet. make a mold from the original phaser and pour in black resin.

Has anyone shrunk any of these? I like this Tricorder. I know it must have a delicate paint job though...

I would buy one of those laser cut ones, before I messed with painting an original one. That looks killer by the way.

Didn't I mention that on the Chair thread...? I thought you might PM me or I'd notice something like this!!??!!

              THAT RULES!

I think when I mentioned it I said I didn't know what detail you could do and if it may be just a black brick. I NEED SOME OF THOSE, BABY! YEAH!

              You are INCREDIBLE!

I'll go check your other threads and your website! WOW!

I remember going to look up my Tech Manual to see what the scale should be because I thought the Mego one was a bit small. I'll have to check the thread. AWESOME!

As for the Playmates gear, the 9" stuff is too big, but the 6" stuff is just about perfect..especially the Klingon disruptor! Lots of great tools and props for Sickbay and Engineering too.
Problem with the 6" stuff is a lot of it was rainbow colored...purples, reds, oranges, etc..Doesnt bother me, but I know it bugs some folks.

By the way, that tricorder looks fantastic!!!

If you really want to paint this stuff use the repos pieces like i did, I started by painting the stuff black using black spray paint which worked great for the gold and silver i used model paint and a very fine paint brush, on the tricorder strap go light on the paint coverage

I guess you might still be looking for your Strap material though. I still haven't posted the pix I promised.

Amen to that! Can't wait to see mine. I'll post some pix when they get here. A landing party I'm sure.

I SOOO want Black phasers and communicators.

And I wish Doc would make the "Belt" so that the Phaser can be on the right hip and the communicator on the BACK right. That would rule.

I suppose I should be able to make my own from cloth now that I think of it... or even just string. Hmmm. The Phaser would be easy. Not sure about the comm holder though.
