    Restringing question

    Sorry if this is answered some place else;

Where do you guys get the elastic cord to restring your megos?

I tried a Micheal's craft store today and they said they only carried it seasonally for Christmas wrapping. Any suggestions?

any sewing supply store will have small elastic. Try your local sewing hobby shop or Walmarts craft center.

I found 2mm elastic at michaels 2 weeks ago. Its a small package (multi colored) and I found it by the beads for stringing necklaces and bracelets. Most is 1mm.

Too many toys. Not enough space!

It looks like John Carpenter's "The Thing" got him!

Thanks for the advice guys, I'll check Walmart and Fabricland tomorrow.

        Cheers!

I buy mine at a local sewing shop. They always have a few different sizes. Just bring an old scrap piece with you to match up the right size. Very expensive though.... costs 10cents a foot. I spluged and bought a whole 2dollars worth.

              You spendthrift you!

I usually go to my local sewing store and buy the prepackaged elastic.

Here is what I found at Michaels. I think it was $1.99 or $2.99. 5 yards of 2mm elastic.

Dig the groovy 70's multicolor effect!

Those look like the multicolor elastics I use for my hair.

I agree 1mm is too thin but I think I recall comparing the 2mm and it was still a bit too thin. I saw that exact stuff.
I went to JoAnn Fabrics and got a brand called Stretchrite. Round cord elastic 5 yards. I think it was about $2. If you compare it to original Mego string it is very close in diameter, maybe just a hair thinner. It doesn't list the diameter on the package. It comes on a blister card (like a Mego, LOL) and the part number I bought is 1N3960WHTE and is printed in the lower right corner. UPC is 071081850280.

The stuff at Wal-Mart is pretty close.

Thanks for all the help guys!

I found some generic locally packaged elastics at Wallmart - it's about half the thickness of the T1 elastics, probably around 2mm., but it worked fine for restringing a couple of my CTVTs.
