Current toy lines heads compatible to mego bodies?
All of the figures I've seen lately have the neck sculpted as part of the upper body with the head itself being separate. I guess you could sculpt a neck for these heads, but I'm not sure if you would call that a "minor" modification.

I actually created a resin piece that hou can fit a FC head on for megoizing those heads. Not that difficult. You can make one out of Sculpey and glue it on and paint it with little cost or effort.
Well, as far as female heads are concerned, I'm of the opinion that Breyer female heads are pretty much the most compatible with the adult MEGO scale.
HOWEVER, I should also point out that I've always thought the MEGO female action figure scale was WAAAAAAAAAAY too big.
All MEGO women are vitually the same height as the men with enormous noggins that look like calcium depoists.
In real life, this would equate to a big-headed woman with colossal hair, who is over 6 feet tall, and who has a long, awkward body that is built like a lanky boy with breasts.
The Breyer women heads are smaller, and therefore better suited to the MEGO scale of adult males.
The only trouble is, Breyer women head sculpts (like MEGO women) are designed without necks. What this means is that the women face sculpts (by and large) have no sharply defined jaw-line, or even sharply defined ears. The neck, jaw-line, and ears are three features of a woman's general cranium that give it much of its feminine beauty.
If I had designed the MEGO female body back in 1970, I would have designed several different body types (like they did with the men):
A) Thin Woman
B) Athletic Woman
c) Fat Woman
ALL of the women would have had swivel heads with the neck sculpted as part of the head (like the men).
The "athletically-built" young woman body type (with feminine curves) would have had a (max) height of about 7 inches. At 1: 9.5 scale that translates to a woman with a roughly 5 foot 6 inch height.
Of course, that's the nude figure's height. Dressed, she would be a bit taller, giving her a roughly 5 foot 8 inch height.
Next to an 8 inch tall (dressed) MEGO hero (roughly 6 feet 3 inches of real-life height), the male to female proportions would look correct.
I've seen some of the small-size Bratz heads used for Mego style customs, but I don't know what(if any) modifications were used. They're very stylized, but I guess they would work for anime-style characters. I've been carrying a Dinah Mite with me from time to time in order to compare sizes.
Hey! Where's the waiter with the water for my daughter?
The big question is when are you going to start making Star Trek character heads? Pretty please?
Capt. Kirk: "Is there anyone on this ship, who even remotely, looks like Satan?"
Mr. Spock: "I am not aware of anyone who fits that description, Captain"
Capt. Kirk: "No, Mr. Spock, I didn't think you would be"
This is a resource list that I think would be very usefull to the customizer crowd.
First I'd like to bring up a Neck idea I had and hope to experiment with soon. I hope to mount a short neck head onto a wooden beed so as to achieve like a GI Joe style neck. I have found large wooden beeds at craft stores. In prior cases, I have used collars and costume to hide the neck extensions I've applied to figures.
But here is a list of sources I have used so far for Mego heads:
KLIK Candy dispencers
Remote control vehicles that include a figure
Pez candy dispencers
TOY BIZ 10" action figures (some)
Bratz 4" figures (female heads if you can deal w/ the big eyes)
Craft Doll heads (Micheals has 2 styles: craft and cake decorating)
Old toy figures easily bought at Goodwills Fleamarkets or on ebay
Kenner centurian figures
Brave starr figures
Playing Mantis Action Jackson figures
some Remco figure heads
Of course there is the heads available from some of the members here if the above list doesnt fit the bill!!!

Is any one interested in having some new updated mego heads. I have been working for the past year on shrinking 1/6 th scale heads and shrinking them down to mego size. I sculpt some of my one of a kinds and make silicon molds and cast them from solid white resin, I am working on casting them in a soft urethane soon.
I listed my first batch last week on e-bay.
So far I have the following available in mego size:
Bat man (Adam West)
Two Face
Mad hatter
Bill Murray
Snake Plisken
Kurt Russel (Soldier)
Earl(my name is earl)
Dwight( The Office)
