Glasses!

I'm sure this has come up many times before, but I can't seem to find any tips or suggestions for creating mego scale glasses.

I can't use CHIPS or Clark Kent repros because they're the wrong shape, and preferably the ones I get or create would have transparent lenses.

Any suggestions?

You could make your own with a piece of wire, but those won't have lenses of course

I saw a custom on Captain Dunsel's site about a year ago. He used glasses from a Myst figure named Atrus. The figure is 7" tall, but the glasses worked fine. If you can find one grab it, they are hard to come by.

Look into Barbie glasses. I had a pair for a 1/6 project I did years ago. They turned out to be the same scale as the Clark Kent glasses I bought from Doc Mego. As for lenses. I used to get glass effect in small gaps like lens frames. Put some wax paper directly behind the frames and dab a little elmers. (or other clear drying glue) The beed of glue will dry and shrink and then remove the wax paper!

The glue tip sounds great, I was thinking I had to use clear resin or something. For the custom I'm planning the glasses need to be tinted, so I think I'll have to find some translucent paint to coat the lenses as well.

The Myst glasses are great, but their the wrong shape.

Anyone know where these might have come from?

Lenses can be made using a hole punch and some clear plastic from a plastic blister from a toy or other carded item from the store.

I was just looking on ebay and I found a person who prints 1/6 glasses on acetate. The photos look great, but I wonder what they actually look like - has anyone here tried anything like that before?

I found some tie tacks that were little glasses.I just snipped off the pin part.They work really good.Perfect mego size,we found them about a year ago at a store called Marshalls.

made these a few days ago. kind of sloppy but for my first pair they're not bad.

I used a small bit of wire and shaped it with a pair of needle nose pliers for the arms and top of the frame, then I folded a section of clear tape over the top. I cut the tape for the lenses and used a lighter to shrink the left over tape above the bridge. Last, i used a little black paint to finish the lens frames.
