Greetings everyone!
You know, I've been reading a lot recently about Austin closing down Reproheads, and there's even been some whispers about his "retirement" from the world of MEGO Action Figure customizing.
Well as someone who recently took delivery of one of his awesome custom action figure creations, I'm here to say that such a retirement would be a major blow to this hobby and to this community.
I don't usually do this, and I apologize to Austin in advance if this embarrasses him, but I recently sent him thank you message after purchasing a custom Doctor Octopus figure as a gift for my older brother.
Hopefully the sentiments expressed in my note will help to pursuade Austin to forget all about this "retirement" nonsense, and re-open Repro-heads.
Hopefully, he'll quickly get back to what he does best: Making the lives of a LOT of MEGO customizers so much easier, and winning the hearts and minds of a LOT of MEGO fans.
Here's the note I sent him:
Hi Austin!
I didn't get a chance to drop you a little PM note to properly thank you for all the work you put into the custom MEGO Doc Ock action figure I purchased from you.
The figure was really worth the wait!! I made a nice box for it and gave it to my older brother as a gift last week.
My brother is 45 years old, and we both grew up all throughout the 1970's with MEGO figures.
I was always the Batman fan, and my brother was always the Spider-Man fan.
When I gave him the custom MEGO Doc Ock action figure (to go with a MEGO Spiderman, Lizard, and Green Goblin that I gave him two years ago), he was absolutely thrilled!
I could actually see the nostalgia (and emotion) welling up in his eyes as he stared at the boxed figure and placed it on his shelf with the other three.
Without a word he hugged me and and held on for a long moment. He whispered in my ear "I love it. Thanks so much little bro. I love you, man".
In all my 42 years, I've never seen my brother moved like that. He's just never been the type to get emotional.
So I want to thank you sincerely, Austin, for helping two brothers... two middle aged men... get a little closer together through the magic of MEGO.
Warmest Regards,
Roberto
