Pez heads make great mego heads!

I was talking with Paul (Merilyn) the other day and the subject was Pez heads and how they are easily converted to MEGO.

We have a guy at an antique store who has thousands of PEZ heads and sells them for a buck a piece. I have been going nuts and buying them up. A buck a piece is pretty great. I just can't afford ten to twenty dollar recast rezin heads on some of these reproduction sites.

Anyone else do this trait? I make the bases out of junk mego heads, adding scuptley. Or if I am not lucky to have a junk head at the moment, I have successfully created necks out of sharpie caps and then added the scuptey.

    Pretty amazing turn outs!

I used a Pez head for a Darth Vader. Many of the Pez are right on the money scale-wise for Mego. Others look more like 1:6 scale. On Darth, I fashioned a neckplug from some Sculpey. I baked an screw-eye into the clay. After I baked it, I glued it into the head cavity. I used elastic through the screw-eye to connect the head to the Mego's crossbar in the lower torso.

My Darth, Stormtrooper and Boba Fett were Pez heads. They are a little larger than normal mego, but since they are helmeted characters it works. I also did the Emperor from a Pez head, but had to shrink it first.

I'm eventually going to do one with a Pez head.

          Hmmmm....

I bought tons of Star Wars Pez for customs. You can Dremel some of 'em out and use them as actual helmets. (Did that with the Luke one to get some X-Wing pilot helmets.)

I've used many of the Star Wars Pez heads and mst of them look great, I also used Pez Heads for my custom mego Ninja Turtles successfully. I only wish all the Pez heads were Mego scale.

I also made a Darth Vader and Storm Trooper with Pez heads. Managed to make the Storm Trooper one removeable with a little grinding.
