    Combat Boots making how to?

    SO, I'm working on a rather large (even Hulking) custom and would like to give him some combat boots but can find nothing suitable. The feet measure 3 inches long and 2.5 wide. I've looked into boots for babies or toddlers, but all the ones i found sor far are too big. Anybody ever come across a how to on making custom boots?

    Hey Joe, check mimiwoo's store out on eBay. She is based in Hong Kong and
    sell stuff for the Obitsu and Dollfie dolls. Though they are kind of expensive some of the boots for 60cm dolls might work. They have some that look like Doc Marten's, but with your skill could be made to look like combat boots

      Joe, I can't find the link now, but you can probably MacGuyver your own combat boots. Just recreate the basic shape of the boot with something that you can add pins to...perhaps whittle down a blocky eraser into the same basic shape as a combat boot. Study a basic combat boot and you will see that it comes in three or four swatches of leather that you can piece together. Stretch the thin leather (dipped in water) over the toes and pin underneath on the soles. Do the same for the opposite end of the boot. Let this dry overnight. Remove the pins and glue down a leather sole. Glue the shaft of the leg. Hope this makes sense. That's how I did my General Ursus boots with a toe dent.

      Samples of my work are found here: Life, Liberty and Pursuit of Happiness

      To do list:
      1:6 boots for Mathilda, 1:1 Romulan Commander outfit, Ursus helmet; Cornelius appliance
      1:9 scale ape's new suit for Cornelius;

          Hey T-Bolt,

          My two youngest kids collect Build a Bear workshops characters, they have extremely detailed real leather boots that are the size your looking for. They are hiking boots you can paint black, but they also have black plastic boots if you would prefer a more Megoesque look.
          Check them out at buildabear.com .

          Hope this helps you,

          Chris

              The measurements are 4" long by 3" wide, so the are 1" longer than the foot but only a half an inch wider, so yes they are stubby, but proportionaly not quite as stubby as the foot itself. the larger size would help getting it on the foot as well.
              Another option would be to find a junker of the 3' batman figure that came out a couple of years ago and cut the boot feet off of it, if I remember correctly it should be about the right size and it has the tread on the bottom. You would have to add the laces and some modification on the upper parts.
