Hello everyone. My name is Gary Schaeffer. I own the Outer Space Men LLC and I believe that I met many of you at the New York Comic Con as well as the Big Apple Con. Thanks so much to MAZINZ for contacting me about the Alien Attack also known as the Space Adventure playset.
I have spent over 8 years in a labor of love negotiating with the US Library of Congress to acquire all of the registrations, marks and copyrights for all 13 of the OSM. After successfully acquiring every name in the OSM universe as many of you know I published the amazing graphic novel this year which has garnered fantastic reviews from even the most difficult of critics. If you have not been to my website yet please do so in order to see just what is going on in the OSM playing field and all of the amazing up to date news about these iconic figures.
The graphic novel re-introduces the figures which in the short lived year that they were produced needed to be updated and brought into the twenty first century. The story by Eric Hayes and the art by Rudolf Montemayor and Marc Bostel will blow you away.
Thanks for posting the photos of the Alien Attack playset. I would love to know where this set was acquired. I own the sister set which simply changed the name to Space Adventure playset to grab more buyers at the time. The images are below:
As you can see the image shows a different more generic mail-away type box as compared to the Alien Attack store graphic box. These knock off unlicensed playsets were done using the small six plastic figures which appeared in the late 70's and early 80's. The manufacturer must have made millions of the little plastic OSM because they have shown up in a myriad of colors and in different packaging and have gone by many different names. Go to my website gallery: http://www.theouterspacemen.com/gallery.html and take a look at my private collection. In there you will see every form that these small plastic figures have taken through the years.
I am looking forward to being a part of this blog site and welcome everyone with an interest in the Outer Space Men to ask questions, contact me, go to the website and follow along on Twitter, MySpace, Facebook as well as the official OSM blog: http://theouterspacemen.blogspot.com/
Thanks so much for such a great site and keep watching for amazing upcoming events in the quest to bring back the OSM to a whole new world of collecting and fans of all ages. Gary.
