We know movies which were filmed in LA, NY, Chicago, and other major metro areas. What films have been made in the areas of members who do not live in the major movie picture norm setting?
The three that come to mind for me here in Baton Rouge are:
The Toy
Everybody's All-American
The Deadly Tower (Kurt Russell, about the U of Texas shootings)
I believe part of Easy Rider was filmed in this area, but I think it was about an hour north.
There are some others, but the setting was Baton Rouge, Kingfish, Dead Man Walking, Blaze...

In my original home town only one that I know of. Stanley and Iris. I know this because I protested Jane Fonda coming to our town. I was home on leave from the Air Force at the time. Besides that I really don't think my town is known for much.

This movie:
Fear No Evil (1981) (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0082367/)

Scenes were filmed at Spry High School where I went for one year in the early 80's
Other scenes were filmed at Charlotte Beach, where I sometimes go to.

Where I live in NY so many films have been made. Some that have been made in areas I know of or have visited:
The Godfather - The funeral for Don Corleone' - scenes filmed at the big cemetary in an area called Maspeth.
Goodfellas - Middle Village & Maspeth - The Diner Scene, aka, "Get Yer F----ng shine box!" was filmed at the Spartan Resturant. The Resturant is gone but the building has been converted to something else. Queens Blvd. & various locations.
Street Trash - Filmed at the Flushing Corona park and the Parkside Resturant in the heart of Corona doubled for the mob owned resturant, ( which in reality is in fact Mob owned).
A Bronx Tale was actually filmed at various locations in Astoria, Queens.
Spider-Man - the street Peter walks up after beating up Flash Thompson at school is Ascan ave in Forest Hills and on that block was a popular Comic Book Store called Little Nemo's. It was owned and run by a man whose name I forget but he was a Pupil of Norman Rockwell.
The Producers, ( Old version), once scene was filmed at Lincoln Center where the fountain gets turned on. I sued to work accross the street from there at a stationary store which is now out of business.
Die Hard With A Vengence - 72nd Street Subway stop, less than 10 blocks up from Lincoln Center. I used to work at a bookstore up there.

Well some big movies that come to mind for my home town of Buffalo are....
1. The Natural with Robert Redford. The used alot of locals for background
shots.
2. Superman 2 with Chris Reeves. Filmed at Niagara Falls
3. Buffalo 66 . Stared Vincent Gallo, Christine Ricci, Ben Gazzara. Vince's
parents house (Used in the movie) was a few blocks down from my house.
4. Canadian Bacon with John Candy. Filmed all around Niagara Falls.
5 Bruce Almighty. Just location shots Jim Carry never came.:enraged:
6. Poutrygeist from Troma films. I was in this one. Got to be a zombie. Nice close up of ripping someone apart in a fast food place:grin:
Columbus Ohio - hot bed of film making.
A few years back some dumb Michael Douglas movie was filmed here. I think it was Traffic.

Just a few have shot here, no big blockbusters. Some of The Distinguished Gentleman(1992) with Eddie Murphy was shot at the capital building in Harrisburg. Lucky Numbers (2000) w/ John Travolta & Lisa Kudrow was shot all over central PA, in Hershey, Harrisburg and Carlise. Oh yeah, and Major League II (1994) used the ballfield of the local AA team, The Harrisburg Senators.

Traffic is a brilliant film! I think Soderberg won the Best Director Oscar for that movie. It's not dumb by a long shot.

Soderbergh is from Baton Rouge, and filmed "Sex, Lies, and Videotape" here, I forgot about that one.
You mentioned Houston; One of my favorite movies was shot in Houston, "Reality Bites".

Nothing in my hometown, they don't take kindly to people coming in with their fancy cameras. And the sad part of that is I'm not joking!
But when I lived in South Carolina I would frequently go to Beauford SC where most of the funeral procession scenes to "The Big Chill" were filmed as well as the house. This same house was also used for "The Great Santini".

""Bandits"" (Bruce Willis and Billy Bob) I took a humdinger of a picture of Billy Bob in that goofy old man golf outfit he wore in part of the film ... he looked straight at me and said "Oh thanks a lot" and went on to say something about how he didn't chose the outfit. The first Bank they rob is right down town Silverton when they get away in the silver Chrysler PT ... I was behind a building watching them do the filming ... so I sort of was in the movie ... you just couldn't see me lol lol
""The Hunted"" ( Tommy Lee Jones and Benicio Del Toro ... not sure the spelling ;) ) like all the forest parts were filmed at the Silver Falls State Park
""One flew over the Cuckoo's nest"" was filmed in Salem just a short drive from here ... in fact I just drove past the main hostpital they used today.
Lots of small parts in many movies have been filmed in the general area Mt. Angel and Scotts Mills are like right up the road and both have also been used in movies most aren't block busters ... most have been B Movies

Well, Baltimore and Washington DC. Take your pick.
Although, I do have to laugh, when a film is supposed to take place in DC and they don't shoot it there. You can tell. Same thing happens with NYC, too.

I forgot about another "GREAT WORK" in film history that was shot here recently, "Dukes of Hazzard"!!!
The Boar's Nest was not too far from my house and the college scene was LSU, of course. I just watched part of this movie last night and the scene where they were driving to the college, i cannot figure out where this is at. I think it is New Orleans because I do not recognize the buildings in the back ground.
Alot of films are starting to be made here in Louisiana because the state passed a bill recently giving film companies tax breaks to come here.

Billy Madison- filmed not too far from my house, they wanted to film a scene on my parents driveway, my parents didn't care for Adam Sandler
X-Men- The Winter scenes at the beginning shot a few miles from my house. The rest shot in Toronto.
Rolling Vengeance- Filmed around the corner from my child hood home, I watched it being made.
Half Baked- Made in Toronto, I could see my friend's building in a bunch of scenes.
Boondock Saints- You can see the horrible hell hole I suffered in during much of the early ninties.
Both of the schools I went to (York U and Ryerson) had constant film crews on campus, I know I watched them film a bunch of "Forever Knight" and "tech war" episodes on breaks, I also ran into Keanu Reeves once.

"A League of Their Own" was shot mainly in my neighboring city of Evansville, but some of the rural scenes were filmed about five miles from my house. Also a nearby town called Huntingburg was the site of the rival ball teams stadium scenes.
Huntingburg was also basically flooded for the filming of "Hard Rain" with Morgan Freeman and Christian Slater.

Like Evel K Mego mentioned, "A League Of Their Own" was filmed in Evansville and that's my home town. Some other scenes, such as the one in the gym when the girl hits the ball through the window, were shot in New Harmony, Indiana. That's 40 miles outside of Evansville. My parents live there.

Parts of the original X-Men movie, Billy Madison and The Hurricane with Denzel Washington were filmed here in Oshawa, Ontario.... There are more, but I cannot think of them at the moment. A popular site for filiming is Col. R.S. Mcglaughlin's mansion here in Oshawa...he's the gent who basically brought General Motors to Canada. His home is now a tourist attraction and was used as Xavier's school for Gifted Youngsters in X-Men 1.

Shaun of the dead was filmed extensively around my part of London (crouch end), in fact the windows to the immediate right above the shop that Simon Pegg goes into ( coke and cornetto) was my old bedsit. Also the film Love, Honour and Obey was filmed in crouch end and the pub used used to be a regular drinking venue for me and my buds.

Right next to me were parts to the Blair Witch Project.
Since I also live in the Washington D.C./Baltimore area there are too many to name but will mention the movie Ladder 49 which was filmed in Baltimore. The priest of the Catholic Church that I attend played the priest in the film.
He said John Travolta and Joaquin Phoenix were both very nice people to work with.

They have some strange names for the towns up around Lancaster. The funniest is "Intercourse". Walk into any souvenir shop and you can imagine the tourist shirts you'll see referencing this town.

Let's see, I live outside Philly, so I'm not going to count anything shot downtown. I think the stuff shot closest to my home town is the original 50s Blob, TAPS, and parts the upcoming M. Night Shamaylan film 'The Happening.' I'm told that 'The Village' set was just over the hill from the office of my current job, too.
They actually just closed down the diner that the Blob munched on.

Filmed in Wichita, Kansas:
Parts of "Tombstone", "Little House on the Prairie", "Sarah, Plain and Tall", "C.S.A.", and a whole host of movies and made for TV Old West movies - One of our museums is a 100 acre collection of Old West buildings and an adjacent 19th century farm called "Cowtown". It's a popular site for filming westerns and documentaries, the last of which was by an old friend of mine from WSU. I met Christopher Walken while he was in town for the filming of a Hallmark Hall of Fame movie, entirely by accident. There's usually an ad in the paper about every other month for auditions for extras.
"Darkness" - a horror flick entirely filmed in Wichita, written, edited, and directed by my wife's High School boyfriend, Leif Jonker. Besides being a horror film director, writer, and special effects creator (his stuff on "Surface" was awesome), Leif's also a Mego fan.
"Mars Attacks" - the retirement home that gets trashed in the film is up on the north end of town. Leif worked on Tim Burton's crew though I didn't actually know him at the time. It was pretty awesome to see filming, and not just because I ditched out of a few classes at nearby WSU to do it.
"King Kung Fu" - a cult film about King Kong and Kung Fu, filmed entirely in Wichita.
