Whats your oldest VCR/Beta tape that you still have that you taped off T.V. many years ago?
I just recently found a tape from 1985 that had wrestling on it with commercials to. Had some Family Ties episodes as well.

I have Superman:The Movie and Superman II recorded from TV circa 1984 or 85. I also have some badly recorded/re-recorded segments of GI Joe, Transformers, M.A.S.K., Super Powers and WGN's Bozo show with commercials. I found some really good Super Powers toy commercials on those tapes a few years ago!

Dallas Cowboys Super Bowl games from 92 & 93. I also have a "greatest plays" compilation I made from moments during the 80's. The Danny White, Herschel Walker, Tony Dorsett years. Good stuff. All on BETA. Also have some of the first season Miami Vice episodes. That would be around '84, so that is the earliest.

Zero.

Gave all my Disney tapes to a friend of mine's little daughter.

Gave some of the more popular movie titles away to friends...the rest I threw them in the back of my truck...and dumped them.

I have the Adventures of Superman when the local channel WOR-channel 9 began to give them this is about 87...I hate to get rid of them because they have bumpers and previews that the Dvd collection did not put in....
Also have Batman when WPIX channel 11 was giving them in 1989. I still have lot's of taped shows.

Don't remember the exact year. I got some Saturday Morning cartoon taped. It had to be before Mel Blanc passed away because he was still doing the voice of Barney for the Fruity Pebbles ads.

I cleaned out TONS of taped stuff, but I kept things that had bumpers, commercials, etc. I wish now I hadn't pitched all of my BTAS tapes, since WB cut out the old Fox bumpers on DVD.

I still have bunches of ST-TNG and DS9, (1987 & on). I cleared out of all my PBS Doctor Who tapes last year, (1988 and on). I do still have an old PBS special tho titled Star Wars to Jedi. That could be as far back as `84 or `85.

I think mine would be a bootleg video tape of "Return of the Jedi" that my parents gave me back in 1983 for Christmas. Where the hell my dad managed to find it six months after Jedi was released in theatres, I have no idea! It looked like crap, but all my friends were jealous. I have it stuck in a box somewhere, I haven't looked at it in years though.

I'm pretty sure I have some episodes of Northern Exposure on VHS stashed somewhere, though I should chuck them since I have them on DVD now. I used to tape it off CBS every Monday night.

I still have the original 30 minute JVC starter tape that came with out first VCR. I'm going to say we bought it around '82, though it could've been as late as '84. Pretty sure I taped videos (remember them) on it, but I don't know what.

'87, Disney's Robin Hood taped off of a Sunday Night Walt Disney showing. I have a bunch of stuff that I need to digitize. I love seeing all of the old commercials again.

I used to have about 15 hours of Warner Bros. cartoons that I'd taped on 'long play', on 3 VHS tapes. I'm kicking myself that I taped over them eventually.
I believe I have 'Phase IV' on a tape someplace that I taped during the mid 80's sometime.

I can say the oldest tapes (betamax) I have that I definitely know the date of the recording would be from the 1981 WOR chan 9 (NY-NJ) Thanksgiving holiday special (they showed 3 Godzilla films and the day before that they showed 3 kong related films which I also recorded). In fact if any of you saw on youtube or got a vhs/dvd dupe of the 81 Godzilla film special, chances are it came from my tape originally

Now I have a few tapes that I know were all recorded before that but I could not give exact time or year- assuming 1979-1980, would be a showtime airing of Pete's Dragon, the Muppet show and some other odd stuff (like the Krofft super star show that aired on wpix)

Likewise I can also swear my father possibly recorded on our first betadeck the Star wars holiday special because I can recall watching it more than once back then. Whatever became of that tape is beyond me

I have somewhere in my house the making of Empire Strikes Back. It was recorded off of TV. Probably...1980? What struck me as funny the last time I watched it, which was like 15 years ago, was the commercial for National Fur Week.

A tape simply marked "Wrestling #1" containing various WWF wrestling from 1985.
I wasn't handy with the remote when I started so every ad is intact for those shows which is crazy watching them now.

I don't think I have any VHS videos left of stuff I recorded off of TV. But I do have a couple of old VHS store bought vids of MOTU, Jem and Tigersharks cartoons I haven't been able to part with.

I have KISS' last interview in makeup in late '82/early '83 and their unmasking on MTV later that same year. Much better than what you get on the KISStory boxsets too!

I've got a couple of 80's big box VHS, Westworld and Forbidden Planet. I got them at a yard sale ages ago (the 90s) and love the box art/glamour of them. Westworld is one of my favorites so an added bonus. Also, and this is the best, no previews or ads before the movie, it just STARTS!!!

I think the oldest tapes I have that were recorded from television are-

1. My betamax tape from 1979 that has an episode of Sha-Na-Na (with Dusty Springfield as guest), then it has a documentary called "Black Holes, monsters that eat space and time" with scientist Durk Pearson, and a special primetime rerun of "Star Trek - Menagerie" that aired on WGN Channel 9 Chicago. I think it's from December 1979. All of the commercial breaks are included.

2. A betamax tape of "Brian's Song" that was recorded from ABC Channel 7 Chicago sometime in either 1978 or 1979, I forget which. It also has some commercial breaks included.

I have a bunch of various other beta tapes from the early 1980s and on, though sadly alot of the ones I used to have were either lost or erased.

Some of the commercial breaks from my aforementioned tapes are actually found on YouTube, uploaded by Fuzzy Memories, to whom I donated some copies of my old tapes.

I cleared out all my VHS tapes a couple of years ago along with my VCR. I recently found a few Sandahl Bergman workout tapes in my storage room that I bought as collector's items. Yes, I collect Sandahl Bergman items.
