Star Wars Deleted Scenes From Blu Ray set

Just got finished watching the ANH and Empire scenes, and was dissappointed by the fact that these were NOT restored.

the coolest parts? finally seeing the Biggs stuff as intended, and the often discussed wampa attacks! Han in the original Mos Eisley cuts with a lady, and there is a scene where Luke starts to express his feelings for Leia wich is AWKWARD!!! lol:silly:

all in all great to see what had been discussed for years acessible to the masses!
your thoughts?

Yeah, would have been nice if they'd restored them a little... the quality isn't too much different from their first appearance on the old Behind the Magic CDROM.

But still great to see the Anchorhead scenes and the alternate cantina cut again.

And finally seeing the full ROTJ Sandstorm scene and the ESB Wampa attack fragments is amazing. Been waiting a long time for those.

And the Boba Fett animated segment from the Holiday Special was a cool surprise.

I have a question... Did Lucas keep that scene he installed years ago where you see that really bad CGI Jabba the Hutt talking to Han Solo? I believe Han steps on his tail. If they kept it, did they improve the CGI? I can't imagine how bad that CGI insert would look in high def now.

The Jabba CGI model was slightly updated for the 2004 DVD release. It looks a little better bun not much.

For the most part I really like how they cleaned it all up. The only movie where I really don't like Special Edition stuff is Return of the Jedi but whatever at this point.

I've only watched A New Hope out of the Blue Rays so far.

Look at it again, you notice the out of sync mouth and general crappiness in HD even more. the CGI looks even more out of place now. :no: only way this will ever look good is from a restoration from film.

I bought just the three pack of the original trilogy on Blu Ray last night because it was so dirt cheap for $39.99 at Target. I watched ANH and thought it looked really good. Yeah, that Jabba scene wasn't a great sell in High Def. But the overall look of the film was so good, it didn't hurt anything for me. I LOVE the first scene where the Tie-Fighters are lining up in formation to attack the Deathstar. That put goose bumps on me. Reminded me of how I felt when I saw the movie in '77. And is it just me or did some of the aerial shots of the ships diving towards the Deathstar feel almost 3-D? This has given me renewed interest in seeing the originals in 3-D. They can throw away the prequels. I have absolutely no interest.

Maybe they weren't cleaned up to try and prevent someone from making their own version with those scenes cut back into place?

I don't have a blu ray, so I'll have to wait to see them.

I thought the color in all the tattoine scenes was way off. I got the whoke shebang at best buy for $79.99 not too shabby. the packaging is amazing. I always get into these films until the new scenes come up, then I am brought bak to the reality this is NOT the Star Wars i know and love...

Wow that was great! The deleted scenes brought back the fun I remember when I first saw the films in my youth. My only regret is that the Holiday Special wasn't included. I know I'm crazy, but I've grown to love the Holiday Special thanks to Rifftrax.

Now I have to go out and buy the Blu-Rays. I just hope Lucas decides to "milk" the fans and will eventually give us nice, clean, updated Blu-Ray versions of the original trilogy in unaltered form. But then, I feel that's about as likely as getting a nice, clean Blu-Ray version of the Holiday Special.

You know those Wampa scenes. Holy crap! You’re telling me that during Han & Leia’s lovers quarrel on Hoth a Wampa is peeking through the ice and the camera focus is on that?!?! My lord! You can see Irvin Kershner think “Those things look like junk. We’ll just film it and let the boss decide.” Seriously everything else makes sense as deletions for context and narrative & are interesting as footnotes, but the Wampa stuff was ridiculous.

One of my favourite deleted scenes is the one where the Emperor orders Moff Jerjerrod to turn the Death Star on the Endor moon if the Rebels succeed in destroying the shield generator.

That scene really humanizes the Jerjerrod character, and is well acted.

I dunno; even back in the glory days they did all sorts of add ons and also-rans. Death Star Droid as part of the SECOND wave? Imperial Troop Transport and Droid Factory weren't from the movies. Neither were the mini-rigs. (Although I know they make a lot of the hardcore collectors cringe....)

I'd MUCH rather see a new guy over ANOTHER Vader. Even as a kid, a completely new guy would have given me an opportunity to make up his story on my own.

seen all the deleted stuff, just wished that Lucas used more female/alien pilots and would have rather watched that bunker shoot out than some of the slapstick ewok~stormtrooper stuff.

I watched some of these with my son this weekend, after 30 plus years of wanting to see the Biggs Darklighter scenes, I'm sort of glad they weren't in the final picture.

The extended Cantina scene was a treat and I sort of enjoyed seeing the Wampa attacks, even if they looked "Doctor Who from 1979" bad.

I enjoyed the deleted scenes but how many were annoyed by the navigation. My blu ray player is an earlier one and is not too quick about locking onto an HD clip. So the menus are set up so you go through the episode number and then the planet the portion of the film takes place on and then there are the deleted scenes only relating to that planet. No play all or anything. I probably spent 90 minutes accessing an hour's worth of deleted scenes.
